Visited on Monday afternoon, 25/04/16. Old school bar on Custom House Quay with most bar stools taken by locals. Friendly bunch and friendly service .. they were trying to convince us to come down for Cornish dancing later that evening! A dozen or so cask lines of beer and cider, nearly all from local Cornish brewers, 2 from the ubiquitous Sharps but more interesting stuff from the likes of Dynamite Valley and Tintangel also on show. Samples were offered and the quality of all the beer and cider was good. They are also into mixing beers and ciders ... one guy was drinking half alcoholic ginger beer/half cider, Sharon was given a blend of 2 different ciders and they advertised a blend of 2 beers, a strong and a stout. 10% off cask beer and cider before 6pm. Overall a great little pub with friendly folks and a decent enough range on offer.

The Front is home to Falmouthís best cask beer & cider range. The pub is located on the quay in a wooden-clad construction next to a fish & chip shop. Inside is a slightly dated single-room bar area with a low ceiling. Atmosphere was however bustling and jovial with a good mix of clientele. We sat next to a breastfeeding woman scoping a few halves of stout. They offer 12 cask ales & ciders with a strong focus on local breweries. I was glad to see a lack of low-boost golden ales and in their place a variety of darker beers (it was winter after all). Good condition and high turnover. They have regular live music and events on the go. A must-visit.

Unfortunatelly they were closing when we got there, but we had time enouh to see the place and feel the atmosphere. The staff girl was so kind to indicate us another close watering hole opened by that time, and also told us the tap list, which was so interesting with all those cornish ales on cask. I hope we come back some day, Seemed like a really nice place.

Been in some shit pubs round here, enjoyed this one. Dark, friendly staff, friendly locals, picked up 4 or 5 rates in here from decent local brewers. My afternoon was slightly ruined by 3 hugely posh and loud medical students. Apart from that, good pub.

A relaxed, laid back bar with one of the best selections of local and not so local beers and ciders we found in Cornwall. The Front was deservedly chosen as the CAMRA Kernow (Cornwall) pub of the year in 2011. Itís tucked in under the Harbour Lights fish and chip shop and just happened to be a minuteís walk away from the apartment we were renting in Falmouth so it became our temporary local and it proved hard to stay away. It has low brick arches and was probably once a boathouse or old warehouse. There are a few pieces of original art on the walls and a mismatched collection of wooden tables and captainsí chairs. Although it can be busy, itís a comfortable place to be and if youíre wearing boating shoes youíll fit in very well, this being right on the waterfront. The beer seems to have a rapid turnover so itís nice and fresh and thereís a very good choice of ales and ciders, most of which are served by gravity directly from the cask. Food isnít served but customers are welcome to bring their own, whether itís a box of cooked to order fish and chips from Harbour Lights (which I can confirm are very good indeed) or something from one of the several other take away shops in town. You can also log onto the free wi-fi at Harbour Lights. (Last visited 29 March 2012).

Modern-looking interior, but with lots of beer. Thereís even some gravity stuff. There are few good ticker places in the area, but this seems like one of the best we found in Cornwall.

Probably the best location in Falmouth, right on the quayside. Crowded, but with a relaxed atmosphere welcomes you as you step into this low ceiling pub. Great selection of real ales, nothing to complain about in the bottled selection either. Another great pub close by is The Chainlocker, straight across the boardwalk.

One of the best beer bars, if not the best non-brewpub beer bar in all of Cornwall. Cool, relaxed atmosphere and youthful vibe. Right on the boardwalk/pier. Great real ale selection with a large handful of real ciders from the box as well. Also has a thoughtful selection of imports like Gonzo porter.
