72 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 JBud (12) , England | April 27, 2012| Updated May 15, 2012 The Fur & Feather is located on the premises of the Woodforde’s Brewery (also located adjacent is the bottle shop where you can pick up all the beers including some of the rarer/better ones - Norfolk Nip).
The pub itself is in a nice setting with a traditional feel and a good beer garden. The draft range is good with 6-7 Woodfordes on tap, when I visited there was the new(ish) Once Bittern and the aptly named Headcracker available. I haven’t eaten there so can not comment.
All in all this is a good pub with a selection of local ales, the location is rural (out of the way) but is in a good location for a quick beverage after a short jaunt in the Broads. Worth a look. | 68 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 13/20 rosenbergh (334) Helsinki, Finland | January 6, 2011| Updated January 10, 2011 Seems to be very popular place to eat. At least on Wednesday at 1 pm.
7 casks (all Woodforde’s obviously) and 4 taps of some other brews. Not the cheapest around. Quite cozy. Location needs some effort (or a car and sober driver...). | 78 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 sm89walt (10) Norwich, England | April 4, 2010| Updated January 10, 2011 A few visits here were my first ventures into real local ale & I’ve never looked back. Spacious pub, always guaranteed the Woodfordes range and as it’s a brewpub the condition can’t be faulted. I’ve eaten here on every visit and it’s always been cracking pub grub. | 90 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 18/20 MrGrumpy (13) Crawley, England | October 29, 2006| Updated January 10, 2011 Finally got around to visiting it last year. I’ve been meaning to for ages as I’m a great fan of Woodforde’s beers, especially Wherry and Nelson’s Revenge. While I enjoyed my favourites there, I did find the Fur and Feather bitter, (brewed only for the premises?) a bit watery and not up to Woodforde’s usual high standards. I liked the shop too. | 94 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 19/20 ALLOVATE (91) Butler, Australia | August 9, 2006 100% on the money. Set aside one of the finest breweries this earth has to offer - Woodforde’s Norfolk Ales - this is a little piece of paradise hidden amongst the farming lowlands of Norfolk. Food is tasty, substantial and varied and the service exceptional. The beer speaks numbers, far outweighing the set-out of the bar or the friendly patrons in this corner of the earth. Geez the boys at Woodforde’s brew a mean bunch of ales. Caught off hand commenting on the quality of the beers, a man approached us from the bar and lo-and-behold it was the head brewer Dr. David Crease. Spent the afternoon tasting various samples of various beers from various batches, had a laugh and got a grandish, royal tour of the new brewery. Thankyou Dave. As I said, one of the best!!! |
