94 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 20/20 INDASTRIA (33) Berlin & Rome, Germany | June 20, 2011 Man, I love this place, it is TOTALLY AMAZING. An entire railroad station renovated and refurnished just to create an outstanding brewpub.
Obviously they brew and serve “THE” gose (I have to write it so. this beer is out of this world) and probably you’ll go there for that but, trust me, all of their beers are very very good and surprising. The selection is obviously limited (they have few commercial beers more beside theirs) but you have to understand that this is a brewpub, ok a huge one, rather than a beer restaurant.
and let me say one thing more: i went for the beer but the best part was the food! I never had a such GREAT dinner in Germany. Every dish is HUGE and extremely cheap.
Also the service is fast and perfect: the beers are served at the proper temperature and the waitress are very kind.
For a reason mentioned above I had to take the “selection” score down. but the BB is perfect anyway, a beer temple. you have to visit it.
| 92 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 19/20 juan13 (19) Bergamo, Italy | October 5, 2012 in a former railway station a fascinating brewpub. only 4 taps, but the beers are all excellent. | 88 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 18/20 b727trijet (150) Isleworth, England | August 25, 2012 One of my favourite pubs in Germany. Always good food/service./beer! And not helping being a train buff this bar is like drinking in a railway museum! Have been here 5-6 times and the beers are all good examples of their styles, particularly the Gose, I could really taste the coriander, like Nethergate Umbel Ale in England! A must visit pub, you can’t be disappointed! | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 17/20 fugitive (142) Athens, Greece | November 30, 2010 The old train station has been transformed in a nice, modern place. Great food, top service, and of course Gose.A must visit. | 82 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 17/20 ElDesmadre (45) Mikołów, Poland | April 10, 2013 A must visit when in Leipzig. Beautiful building of an old train station, the insides are classy, the garden outside is spacious and cozy. The soup was ok, but the pork knuckle was world-class, up to date the best I’ve had. The pils was overhopped, other than that the beers were very good or even great, especially the lovely schwarzbier. Efficient service, not too expensive for German standards. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 18/20 Mads Langtved (51) Copenhagen K, Denmark | October 16, 2005 Nice brewpub. Very big and busy. Traditional German food. They serve, besides the Gose, some other interesting brews from the brewery. Beautiful settings, and beautiful beer. | 78 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 18/20 Dixen (17) Flagstaff, Arizona | October 5, 2005 Great brewpub located in an old and beuatiful railroad station. Excenllent classic german beers, they have a pils, a schwarzbier, a hefeweizen and then the Leipzig speciality Leipziger Gose, which is a must to try if you visit this place. Great traditional german food, had a lovely Grillhaxe with some knödel. Very reasonably priced! A must visit if youre in Leipzig! | 78 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 18/20 EithCubes (215) New Jersey | May 18, 2006| Updated June 4, 2007 Great brewpub. Inside a former train station (for lines linking Saxony to Bavaria). Outside, if you can see over the construction, stands the oldest remaining Kopfbahnof terminus in Europe, site of a future U-Bahn station. Professional brewer, for sure. The train-themed line of beers is worth steaming though, certainly for the Gose, but the pils warrants attention, too. Note: This Gose, while unique, isn’t the one you’re looking for. I’ve had good and iffy service, though I’ve only ever been there during the dead hours. Lots of partitioned areas, includes an arcade-like Wintergarten and a small outside Biergarten, replete with sandbox and small play area for the kiddies. Inside’s a nice combination of steel, iron, copper, and wood, and I could tell I’d sat in a former ticket-selling area. Could do without the muzak. For the food, hearty local fare, good Haxe, and I enjoyed my Kraut and Leberkäs a bit too much - though the beer tasting might have had something to do with that..
Nearest tram stop is, of course, Bayrischer Bahnhof, via the 2, 9, or 16. | 78 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 laverbreadboy (3) , Wales | November 14, 2012| Updated June 4, 2007 worth the trek out of the old town to taste the excellent Leipziger Gose - even tried the ’womens drink’ with added cherry licquer - nice! | 78 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 17/20 desslatt (2) , England | November 20, 2012| Updated June 4, 2007 Agree with Laverbread boybit off a walk but great building we were there in the day but I imagine it is very popular in the evenings. Very good Black beer - Gose a bit fruity for my taste |
