Multiple visits. Cool, simple beer garden. Smaller dining area inside, small bar, picnic tables out back. A better place to come when it’s warmer out. Mostly locals on tap, a handful of house made cocktails, simple, local, slightly limited menu. Food is hit or miss, I especially like "The pile," basically cheese fries with bacon and fried chicken added. Can’t go wrong with the specials either--owner here used to co-own Piedmont so has a culinary background. Right around the corner from Fullsteam if you’re hopping.

I’ve been here once, need to give it another shot. Waited a long time for my table and then it was right by the door and it was cold wah wah wah. Got a ’comfort food plate’ with some fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and collards. Tasted like someone had their first go at all of them...not sure how you do that to mashed potatoes. Got a nice beer and it looked like most of the people were having a good time.

A well loved local place right next door that’s *just* this far from being overrun by the crowds that have poured into the warehouse district in the last few years. But this spot is still a terrific place to enjoy an afternoon beer or a meal, with a focus on fresh NC drafts, nice cocktails, and simple but well-prepared organically-source food. Slight dock to the selection rating since, while they carry the right breweries, they don’t change the offerings from Fullsteam, Aviator, et. al. nearly often enough.
