Nice place, more of a moden interior and feel with music playing. Service was extremely efficient and quite friendly. Usual small beer selection. Didn’t eat.

Visited on a wednesday afternoon. Large moderne restaurant downtown Cologne. Service was fast and polite (not friendly, but at least polite which isn’t always the case here). Selection is limited to Gilden Kölsch, which isn’t a bad one. We didn’t try the food. The Kölsch was 1,70 euros / 20 cl which seems to be a standard price for Cologne. Decent place. I wouldn’t mind visiting again.

Huge place with nice and big teraase per downtown Köln standards. Service was quick and OK. The Kölsch is a good one.

Visited on a Thursday. Cool modern restaurant in downtown Köln. Nice terrasse and tons of room inside. Service was quick, efficient and kind. We didn’t eat here but the plates looked nice. The kölsch was good and fresh, not the best but a top tier.

Great cafe in the centre of Cologne. The waiters are not always that nice, especially for tourists who don’t understand the system of beer serving (glass empty? new glass! No questions asked.). The system is ideal for a day on the terrace with your friends, you don’t have to call a waiter or go to the bar, the beer just keeps coming. The selection is not that great though. Mostly Kölsh, and a few specialities. Beautiful interior and the opportunity to keep following the game during a pee-break. Great cafe.

Visited September 2012.

It started raining yet again but we decided to sit outside under the canopy. It was early in the afternoon so we were the only ones there. It was nice to be able to drink some kolsch in peace before really getting started on the place/kolsch ticking. Service was more or less nonexistent though when we did see the server she was pleasant. It’s across the square from Pfaffen and Gaffel and any number of cafes that serve other brands of kolsch if this one isn’t your style. The Gilden kolsch isn’t the greatest but it’s not bad.

I also had the same as Theydon Bois. I went there at night and it was busy and I was told it was a private party. I went back the next day in the early afternoon and it was fine. They obviously don’t want the custom! Th Kolsch was nice and was poured from the keg

Visited on Friday 26/04/13 around 9.30 pm. Set on the same square as Malzmuhle. Bouncers on the door which was off putting. They wouldn’t let us in - said there was a private party - total bollocks. Man up and just say it’s busy or you’re not welcome for fucks sake! Anyhow - beers (sorry - BEER) to rate so they allowed us to sit outside at a table (it wasn’t too cold) and the service was ok. Just the one beer being their kolsch. Not impressed by the meatheads - would not go back here and after all - why would I? visited and rated ! Jack - I think there were tables inside, probably occupied by people who weren’t in a private party but I can’t be sure as the twats denied us admission!

In the same square area as Pfaffen. Nice outdoor seating area with a pretty nice restaurant inside as well. Friendly service and serving Gilden Kolsch. Food seemed good, but didn’t eat.
