If I speak about this place locally - it’s like a mirage. If I speak about it in countrywide terms it’s still some hidden treasure. I am not going to speak about it in terms of world wide or beer connoisseur because it is very important to understand that people usually dont brew international styles just in the middle of nowhere in Lithuania. If they do - that’s just some typical farm house ale that doesn’t make me proud of my country. So all in all I say this is a must visit place heading towards Lithuanian lakes from Vilnius or Kaunas. And if you’ll get possibility to get together with owner in few words everything just looks better and tastier. By the way - make sure you’ll try their snail snack,

Fun resto-brewpub in a small village not far from Vilnius. It was very early in the day so we were the only customers there, but by the feeling I got I would say this is as much a little neighborhood restaurant as it is a neighborhood brewpub. Only three of their beers available (two on tap and the stout in bottles) and from what I understood it is pretty much always the same three beers. Also a Gira on tap. We had food but it was too early so we didn’t get the regular full menu therefore I cannot really comment on the food but I would guess nice pub fare. Apparently a pizza specialty. Beers were fair but not remarkable, you go to Gintaro more to visit a nice smalltown pub than to discover great beers. And if you have the change, try to get a “brewery tour”, it is and will remain the most compact professional brewing installation I have ever seen, imagine brewing in space the size of a phone booth located under the pub tables.

Very nice brewpub in what appears to be a family home. Friendly service (well, we were on a tour, but I assume this is what you really get). Clean, fresh beers in international styles. Good fried bread. Overall a lovely place to stop by.

Nice little brewpub north of Vilnius serving wood-oven thin pizzas and 2-3 homebrews in a tiny equipment that can be seen through a window under one table(!) near the bar. Their Sviesus is a great little brew, but their Tamsus and Stoutas were not too pleasant. The place itself is quaint and has a few nice areas in which to relax. I’d come by again if it were on my way, but wouldn’t expect anything super special.

Both the light and dark Gintaro lagers will always be available here, and usually the gira too. We were also given the stout, but that’s not a regular. We were fortunate enough to be given a tour of the brewery by the brewer (that was the purpose of our trip), but even a normal customer can see bits of the brewery, as it’s in the cellar and there’s a window on the floor by the bar that shows a couple of the vessels. Pizza looked good, but I didn’t partake. A throroughly civilised place to stop off on your way down south to the capital.
