Visited in januar 2012 on our pre-winter-ale-pubcrawl.. Lovely place, very cosy small pub. The beers are well served, friendly staff. Lots off funny old pictures and stuff around in this place..

A nice place to have some pints with the locals. The Globe is the place where the Liverpool CAMRA has been founded in early 70’s.

A nice, friendly unspoilt little pub close to the shopping centre. Apparently there were originally about eight pubs in this very short street, which has been made even shorter by the encroachment of the new shopping centre. There are still three, one of them being the delightful Globe with its four or five hand pumps. It’s very small – just the main bar, with a steeply sloping tessera floor that leads into a cosy snug at the back. It doesn’t look as if it’s changed for years. It still has the original Lincrusta frieze, wooden coving and an iron fireplace in the corner. There are whisky jugs, old bottles, and a photograph of Liverpool’s last tram which, after 60 years of service, made its final journey in 1957. (Visited 17 January 2012).

A small, unspoilt Victorian city centre boozer with a local feel and famously sloping floors. Once a revered Higsons house and part of the Cases Street Crawl, which took in 6 or 7 pubs in a street that was no more than 100 yards long. Of course, Higsons is now long gone (although the beer has been resurrected again by Liverpool Organic brewery). Most of Cases Street, and all but two of the pubs, has disappeared under a shopping centre but, thankfully, the Grapes survives pretty much unaltered. Half a dozen or so handpumps provide a decent beer range. Be prepared for a bit of a crush (and a bit of banter) – it is very small and the regulars do like a chat.
