Pretty typical Gordon Biersch location, located in Santana Row, a nice area of San Jose. SLightyly above average beer. Did not have the food to try, but usualy not bad in these resturants.

This is actually my first visit to any Gordon Biersch...somehow.

Pretty nice location right in downtown. Kind of what you might expect from a big chain brewpub like this or BJís or Karl Strauss. Nice, clean decor. Well done all around. I took a seat at the long, communal high top bar table, which was kind of an odd arrangement as it felt very close to some nearby tables.

They had a handful of taps including a seasonal (maybe two?) on. I opted for a sampler of all the house beers. In general, I thought they were pretty decent and are mostly German styles. None of them were particularly amazing examples, but all serviceable options.

Itís a decent enough spot, particularly in a city that isnít exactly a beer mecca. But you might be better served just going to Good Karma or Original Gravity if you just want beer.

Parking here or anywhere around this area sucks. In fact itís a terrible idea. I caved and ended up paying $5 to park in a lot about a couple blocks north which turned out to be a good idea since the street parking is limited to two hours. Also, this is about 100 yards from both Good Karma as well as Original Gravity. The whole area is pretty nice so you can find plenty to do if you want to wander around the city. Just beware of the cops. Apparently they donít have enough to do. There was one guy they were handcuffing and there were about a dozen cops standing around. Thanks big brother, glad you could make the streets safe, even if you had to stop traffic to put one (short I might add) guy in the back of a squad car.

There isnít really a typical layout for Gordon Biersch locations. They all have a small brewing system, they are all somewhat upscale, they brew the same beer (though they each get one tap they can experiment with), and they all have a nice bar. Thatís about it (for the similarities). This one unfortunately didnít have anything special on the rotating tap so I settled for a 10oz glass of the Winter Bock. I wasnít real happy to pay $5 for that glass but for whatever reason I did. They have some sort of a mug club here but the bartender wasnít real clear on what it costs and what the benefits are. I could see stopping in occasionally for a glass of Winter Bock or to try the rotating tap if I lived locally but as it is I probably wonít be back.

A bit brass rail for my tastes, but not bad. The outdoor patio is nice in the summertime.

Pretty nice setting, especially if the weatherís nice like it was when I visited. Iím not much of a German-style drinker, but thatís pretty much what youíre limited to here. My chicken was overcooked, but my wifeís linguini pesto and chicken parm were quite tasty. The garlic fries are great, greasy and garlicky. Get them!

Big space, nice brick-walled warehouse setting close to the downtown hustle and bustle. Very nice staff. The beers are boring, but the food is serviceable pub grub. Plenty of tvs. Best thing about this place is all the medium-dark wood cabinetry; itís a very well-turned-out setting, even if itís nothing too special.

Itís a good place to go after work for a beer. The garlic fries are always tasty if you like garlic. They do carry beers besides their own, and the foodís not too expensive. Good place to go with a group.
