A place with character! Stepping through a double-layered black curtain into the dimly lit bar feels like I’m entering the champaign room. Ok so there’s no strippers or glitter, but there is a leopard print ceiling pattern. Not a bad little tap list, but there are much better options for the beer nerd within walking distance. Still, a cool spot to sink a few.

Came here with Baird and Farmer after the Session 99 Craft Beer Festival. Inside has a long narrow wooden bar with 10-15 stools and a few tables. The all-micro tap lineup includes Great Lakes Orange Peel, Tankhouse, Stratford Pilsner, Cobblestone Stout, Amsterdam Blonde, a Cameron’s beer, Wellington Arkell, and True North Cream Ale and Wunder Weiss. Apparently they carry lots of bottles, though I didn’t notice any on our visit. Service was reasonably friendly. In terms of prices, our three shots of bourbon came to $18, which is fair enough. Overall, Squirly’s is a decent watering hole with an above average draught list, and I will probably return if I happen to be in the area again.

Several of the taps were craft. Empty on Victoria Day, so staff was buzy talking to each other and I could not get served. Smal bar, a few tables.

Small narrow bar with some decidedly retro decor. Simple menu and a decent beer selection. They have a few things that you don’t see very often on tap (Magnotta Altbier, Wunder Weisse, Cameron’s stuff, etc). The beer is decent and the vibe is kind of cool - it’s worth stopping in if you’re in this neighborhood.

The food is forgettable but the place is shabby chic sexy AND friendly. It has a great bar, and an even greater patio, heated in the winter, where one can relax in fur covered, booth-like sofas while staring at the pretty people who work in cool nearby establishments such as Coupe Bizzarre. There is a huge selection of beer in bottles and unexpected offerings on tap (such as Wunder Weisse) , as well as other alcoholic beverages one would expect to find in a bar. Thank you Squirly’s for not making deals with the devil that is major beer companies, and instead offering this eclectic selection! The bathroom is in the basement so it isn’t wheel chair accessible in that respect.
