Large basement restaurant/bar in the City. Decent tap selection of mostly Ontario stuff as well as their own "experimental" house brews. Average prices for the area. Food is quite tasty with generous portions and a focus on spices and seasoning. Pretty enjoyable place for a meal an a few beers.

A basement bar that is a good introduction to Ontario beers with many taps on hand. It has a tavern-like atmosphere and the room is split between bar and dining area. The service was indifferent and the bar staff were content on just chatting amongst themselves. I had a disappointing plate of food here. I mean, it was one of the most bland and horrible meals Iíve eaten out. For the beer, itís worth a look.

Visited on a Wednesday afternoon. Quiet basement bar with a fireplace, couches, pool tables and carpet all around. Very welcoming. OK taplist of local beers, not the cream of the crop. Uninteresting bottle menu. Friendly service. Nothing to say about the food as we were only there for a quick pint. I would definitly go back, perfect spot for a quiet evening. A nice change from the jam-packed cramped places elsewhere in the city.

two visits a few days apart netted me all 35 of the beers then on offer. excellent range of styles and breweries, though the province-ticker in me was slightly disappointed all 35 were Ontario brews so no provinces to tick off! Food was good and came in plentiful portions. Service was quick and friendly

A fairly dimly lit, sub-street level place divided into a more restaurant side and a more bar side with pool tables. Hard to rate the ambiance, as the three times I have visited it, it was very, very quiet, with only a handful of other patrons present. Service is very good and the staff quite knowledgeable about their beers. The selection of beers is very good, although not outstanding. Youíd take a few trips to run out of new things to try though. Food was tasty, but not overly remarkable. Very good value as it wasnít expensive at all, compared to similar establishments my wife and I have frequented. Overall, this is a place I worry about, as I like going when in Toronto, but it always looks like it isnít getting the business it deserves.

Went on a Tuesday evening for dinner and some beer. You have to go downstairs into a basement environment that is split into 2 separate rooms. The food is nothing special and I would probably avoid eating here (more because there are much better places nearby but if you want generic decent pub food its fine); our server was friendly, knew a decent amount about their beer, and was happy to provide samples. Mostly Ontario beer and a decent selection but once again you can tick many of these elsewhere (Bar Hop would be my favourite new place fo rsure). That being said have to mention that I love the house blend that pokes fun at the mayor. Would say that if you are in the area this place is worth visiting for a couple ticks but unless there is a special event there are better places.

Re-rate, stopped in with a larger group, with plenty of space available to sit. Our server was down right rude and so disinterested in serving us. Probably the last time I ever come here. Really a shame.

A large, down-to-earth, downstairs bar in downtown Toronto with a good reputation for having an extensive range of craft beers, including Alís Cask Ale brewed specially for them by County Durham Brewing. (Visited 6 November 2012).

Pros: Selection of Ontario micros is extensive, merely good in terms of the world. That said if you are visiting its probably one of the best places to try an assortment of the core Ontario micro brands. Food is reasonably priced and very tasty for the most part. Good comfort food, or upscale pub grub with a touch of ethnic thrown in. Comfortable relaxed environment generally, nice bare brick walls. Sampler sizes are now available making it a great spot to try a bunch of local brews for visiting Ratebeerians. I come back fairly regularly to eat with friends and family since it pleases a wide audience. Very close to St Lawrence Market making it a good stop for out of town visitors. Cons: Has a historical reputation for surly staff but I find that has much improved recently. If coming in a large-ish group be aware that it can be obnoxious getting a table on a busy weekend evening or during one of their festivals. (Much quieter during the day.)

Basement pub in a nice area of down-town Toronto. Good selection of beers. Some made by themselves and lots of locals. Nice clean place. Iím not sure on the decor, but who cares. Iím here for the beer in a chilled out atmosphere. Nice place.
