I visited Tallgrass while passing through Manhattan on a Saturday afternoon. When you arrive, you pay $5, which goes towards a Talllgrass glass (which you get to keep) and 6 tickets (each ticket gives you one ~5oz sample). Really good deal if you ask me. They also had free beer tours every hour from 2-4pm, but I did not partake in that. When I visited, they had 6 beers on tap, 4 of which are distributed to Kansas City, and 2 others which I had never heard of before. For the beers, I was pleasantly surprised. I have never been a huge Tallgrass fan, but I enjoyed all of the beers I tried here, and I look forward to trying more in the future. As far as the brewery/tasting room itself, the building reminds me a little bit of a 2-room construction trailer. In the first room is a small bar and some merchandise. In the second room there is a foosball table, a couch, an older tv, and a nintendo system with about 20 games - it kind of reminds me of what a basement of a college aged guy might look like. When I showed up, the place was packed, but soon after it cleared up as most people went on the 4 pm tour. Worth visiting if you are in the area.

Stopped by on a Saturday for the tour. A lot of other people had the same idea. The facility is fairly small for tours, but they try. The tasting rooms is too small for sure. They do a great job with what they have and am sure they will continue to expand. Worthwhile.

Tallgrass Brewing Co. All I have to say is PINT, TALLBOYS SILOS, POUNDERS, whatever your preferred term they have the big cans. It is cans only so state parks are in. The beer is great and they are friendly. According to "The New Brewer magazine they had grown 103% in 2011 the coming years will be even bigger and better with new beers on the way and the public getting to taste test batches during tours. Tallgrass is available all over the Midwest and northern states!
