Very nice Kneipe tucked away in a small alley, but it is centrally located. Some rare stuff both in tap and bottles.

Visited July 2013. Went here twice in the same day, ate dinner the second time. Down a little alley off the Heidplatz, it is pleasant outside and even better inside, where it’s traditional and cozy. Annoying background music though. I ate the Bauerngrostl, a mixture of beef, potato and spices, that was good and reasonably priced. Kuchlbauer are a rather large brewery south of Regensburg that specialize in weisse beers. I found their draught Helles to be good and the Turm Weisse to be really good, much better than average. The Aloysius was really too bubblegum sweet to be enjoyable. The Turm Weisse came in a wild looking glass showing a bizarre tower on it. I took this to be a bit of artistic invention until I visited the brewery on the following day and found it did actually exist.

A gem in Regensburg. A gaststätte serving only Kuchlbauer beers, which is a weizen-only brewery with a couple of demons in their line-up, and you’d be hard pressed to find them anywhere else. Draft Aloysius may have been the best weizen bock I’ve ever tasted, and the bottled Turmweisse hefeweizen also ranks as one of the best in my life. Unreal experience. The space is busy, boisterous and packed. Go here.
