Monks porter house är beläget i kanten av Gamla stan, något stenkast från tunnelbanan och är avdelad i flera sektioner nere i källarvalvet. Trevlig och servicevänlig personal som hade vissa problem att ta betalt. Om det berodde på kassamaskinen eller något annat är svårt att avgöra. Urvalet är till stora delar begränsat till sina egenbryggda öl och dessa är varierande. Men som på systembolaget på tok för högt prissatta. En hundring för en DIPA kan väl anses som normalt i Sthlm. Men då är den importerad från USA, kommer ofta från ett riktigt bra bryggeri och smakar fantastiskt. Samma pris men från eget bryggeri förtar lite av känslan. Visst, kul med en skicklig bryggare men eftersmaken består av en dos girighet. Så pass prisvärd är inte Monks. Lite väl hög svansföring.

Not as good as Akkurat or Oliver Twist, but it’s something a little different from them.
A quirky place with a bar and a series of candle lit rooms under brick arches and vaults in the old cellars. Visited a Saturday afternoon and early evening for a few drinks. Impressive bottled selection of De Molen beers on display when entering. Large tap list with Monks own brand and Struise, De Molen and Goose Island as mentioned in the earlier review. Did not try the food, but it looked delicious. Good service from the barman. Well worth a longer visit a less sunny day than this Saturday in June.
In the old town of Stockholm this old basement with raw stone walls and tiled staires. Big selection of their own beers and their partners ( Struisse, De Molen and Goose Island). A bit understaffed in the bar and you may have a long line waiting to order. Food is ok from their nice grill.
Located at the edge of Gamla Stan, in the basement of an old, massive tenant hall with an impressive history (among others, it used to house a cadet school, and it belonged to monarchs and prime ministers of Sweden), the place offers a great experience to beer conscious guests, The selection is impressive (more than 50 taps and countless bottles, including a powerful battery of De Molen beers) and the staff are very friendly and well versed in all bibles of all beers. They willingly do samples for a fixed rate, and these are rather big (more than 10 cl). I haven’t tried the food served in the restaurant section, but I will definitely do it if I win the jackpot in a lottery one day. Yes, it is quite pricey here, but then, well, good quality costs, so it is all right. I will gladly come back again.

A bit of a search at first visit. There are various entries for different Monk’s bars. Tried the cellar beer bar, great cosy atmosphere! Friendly staff. Good bottle selection, especially De Molen, but only a mediocre tap selection, from some smaller English brewers. Had an Oak Aged DIPA from Harbour Brewing, wasn’t bad. Then had a bottled De Molen Amarillo DIPA, which they sold at a discount, this was amazing as expected! Overall very pricey, but would recommend it especially because of the beautiful cellar and the extensive De Molen selection - although there are propably some better beer bars in Stockholm.

We had just finished a 3 hour stay at Akkurat trying half a dozen nearly impossible to find Cantillon beers, eating some decadent food, and running up a 5,000 SEK tab and decided to go bar hopping and tick some beers and Advocate hard before retiring to the hotel and trying a couple dozen more pale lagers. We got here shortly before last call and so couldn’t stay long but that place was pretty nice. You can either sit upstairs or go down into the basement and order beer and food there. The tap selection was interesting but not great, though it was nice trying some of the house beers. The atmosphere was quiet and dark and over all pleasant. Socialist pricing.
