tl;dr Only classic (but good) Belgians.
First visited when spitting houses in Leuven. Old fashioned in any sense of the word: itís location right next to the church, itís brown interior with beer memorabilia and itís beer list with exclusively small to mid sized Belgians. Must be really great if youíre a starting beer geek and/or from abroad, but the beer list wonít offer much if you live in Western Europe like me. Agreeably they do stock the good classic Belgians, like Dupont, and real lambics, but no Belgian craft/modern styles. Perhaps go the better, the atmosphere is authentic and welcoming. I could stop by here now and then for a Belgian update.

Small traditional Belgian Beer bar with stuffed animals in the window. Modern music which doesnít fit with the character of the place. Not very helpful staff and not everything available on the menu. Disappointing place.

A cosy little bar with lots of brewery memorabilia all over the walls. Donít know what the two stuffed foxes in the windows ore for or the Madonna statue. The wndows were wide open letting in the lovely warm air on this beautiful day. The bottled beer list was immense. It was an A4 folder stuffed to the brim. Lots of glasses so each beer could be served in the correct glass.Service was polite & efficient.

Apparently one of the owners of Capital also owns this place and that must be the good guy! It has the atmosphere of a proper beer bar with nice service and more than good enough selection. Without a doubt the best beer spot in Leuven.

Small but cozy beer bar right next to the cathedral in Leuven (on the opposite side to Grote Markt). Iíve been here several times and always find the bartenders friendly and service minded, offering both suggestions and knowledge about their 300+ large bottle beer menu. Surprisingly it has the same owner as the awful The Capital, just around the church, but that has no impact on the atmosphere. Fortunately. If you visit just one pub in Leuven, make it De Fiere Margriet. Last visited: 2014-04-24.

Went back here after Capital. Apparently they have the same owner. Choice is naturally not so big, but there was a decent enough selection. Feels more like a locals place than a tourist place. Quite nice though.

If youíre in Leuven city, you _MUST_ go for a beer. In fact go three or four times and you realise how good it is.
First impressions is the decor and ambience, beer signs everywhere, with some deer antlers, a stuffed boar head, and of course The Foxes in the window.
Second slap in the face was the beer menu which is 2 inches thick!!.
We decided to hold the menu, eyes closed, and randomly pick a page and point to a beer. Great fun.
A few rounds later we thought lets try outsmart the staff, we searched the most obscure beers on the list.. They were fresh, served within a few minutes, and in a correct labelled glass.
It gets busy during peak hour, have patience, or go outside of peak and chat with the staff.
