56 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 11/20
Visited on a Tuesday evening, after a short walk from my hotel. Place was nearly empty, except one or two tables and a man at the bar which seems drunk. Tap list was mainly the usual lagers with an exception for 3 Thornbridge beers. Nothing exceptional here, visit if you’re around.

Visited on Friday 20/12/13 - Black Friday so a little a-typical in terms of many pubs in the UK and London. Arrived at 5pm to find a crowded front room, seemed to be some kind of works party taking up a fair part of the room with locals scattered about. 5 Cask ales available, nothing overly exciting, GK IPA, TT Landlord, Harveys Sussex Bitter (guessing these are the regulars?) and a couple of guests from Ramsbury.
Serice was efficient if a little abrupt.
The rear room seemed to be the locals hang out with a busy pool table, all geezers aged 45-65 stalking the baize!
Nuts in bowls on all of the tables - nice touch.
Looking at the guest beer clips on the walls I think I hit one of the least interesting nights on this front!
Prices are good for London, my half of Ramsbury Christmas Cracker was £1.65 - can’t argue with that!
Decent local boozer but not somewhere to head to unless you are in the area.
5 minutes walk from Queensway or Lancaster Gate tube (Central line) and a similar distance from Paddington (Network Rail, Bakerloo, Hammersmith & City, District, Circle).

We (Loz and me) visited here on Saturday 17th August 2013. It was a rather speedy visit as we were heading to the theatre, however we had 20-25 mins to sit outside supping our beer on one of the little benches. The beer is situated a 5-10 minute walk from Paddington station we were in a hurry so probably closer to five minutes, we came at it via a wonderful little mews which brought us out directly in front of the pub. This is the sort of area where you wouldn’t really expect a pub, the houses and flats looked plush and pricey. The pub was fairly quiet when we entered, there were a few beers on handpump but we opted for Stevens Point bottled beers, however they were both a little underwhelming so wish we hadn’t of bothered. As you enter the pub the bar is off to the right, I have to say I didn’t do too much checking out of the pub as like I said we were rather pushed for time. Service was fine, the place looked tidy enough, and in a really nice area. I can’t say that I was massively impressed but maybe a more relaxing visit next time will give me a more rounded opinion of this place. I think sitting outside almost on the street was my highlight, people watching is a very underrated pastime.

A neighbourhood spot and local bozer, but unfortunately I was not very impressed. Not that many cask ales and rather boring beers on keg. But, a good cask bitter like Salopian Darwin’s Origin is always a winner! The guests? It would not have surprised me if "Lou Todd & Andy Pipkin" by chance had a pint by the bar counter. Drop in if you stay nearby, but it is not worth a detour. (Visited February 14th 2013)

This place is a classic local boozer with plenty of character. There’s something like 4-5 beers on cask, plus a number of questionable beers on keg. The service is friendly, familiar. The ambiance is pretty excellent. This pub is pokey and very unique. It feels like a real local hangout. The beers aren’t fantasticcally interesting, but there’s always a couple of novel guests on. The value is very good. Overall, this is a very good place that’s worth a look if you’re near Paddington or Queensway.

Visited this pub 27/12-2011 with my parents.
Went there just before closing time, for a last drink before bedtime.
Seemed as a very local pub, very cosy.
Very much christmas deco, almost to much.. As well was the music, a pit to loud being able to talk very much..

This is a classic and rather vintage pub tucked away in the leafy suburbs of Bayswater . The building itself is completely vintage. When you step inside you feel like you are going back in time to a place where pubs were a large hub of the community and punters were diverse and characterful.
The staff are very attentive, the music choices was superb with many Beatles’ albums being played and there was good old fashioned pub games to keep you occupied.
During our stay I consumed a half of wonderfully kept Harveys Pale Ale which was just as well conditioned as the Harveys pub near Borough Market. The cellar management was top notch.
My only pain is there wasn’t enough craft London beers. Give them a Redemption Trinity and a Kernel Porter and this place would be a great hub for London beer. Even Fullers ESB would be a great addition.
Due to the system scoring on RB being unfair on small choice establishments this rate does not give the pub enough justice. If you want a pint of Harveys pale ale then come here.
Thanks for Leighton for the recommendation. ,Shoot me a text when they get Crouch Vale; Dark Star or Redemption and Brodie’s in!
If you want a traditional and classic pub then place this very highly on your must go to list. The character is fantastic.
