A cool beer bar in downtown Baltimore. Pretty east to find on North Eutaw street a few blocks up from Camden Yards. Big space, looks like a converted bank. Plenty of tables, decent sized bar. We didn’t eat, but the menu is decent sized and it’s mostly pub food. 40 or so taps, 60 or so bottles. Everything on the tap list was well curated. Bottle list was the same. Slightly higher prices than you may pay elsewhere, but it’s worth it. The night I was in, it was pretty quiet. Good vibe. I bet this gets busy on game days. We’ll definitely stop in again.

This is a fantastic place, though it was crowded every time I stopped in. About 40 beers on tap, though a few were out. Numbers of rarer things that I’ve not seen elsewhere. Food was good and service was fast. The bartender knew beer and that was nice. Great place and a great atmosphere, though slightly hipster.

20 nov 2013. Great place. 20-30 craft taps including some special limited releases. Food was great, as was service. Prices were a little high for Baltimore but still less than what I pay in California.

Medium sized bar with plenty of table seating. Very uncrowded on the Friday evening I went. The tap list is average, lots of readily available stuff, but a few interesting selections. The food was a touch on the expensive side, but really good, so I left feeling like a got my money’s worth.

Visited July 2011.
It was an interesting drive down here from Brewers Art. When you make this trip you end up going through some slightly run down looking neighborhoods but Alewife is a bit past all that. Inside is a large room with a lot of tables and a long bar that wraps around on one side. Plenty of taps to be had. They did give out plenty of samples to pick from and I found some good ones. The food looked good but I wasn’t hungry. Prices were good, so was the service, and even the clientele were friendly people.

Very cool bar and atmosphere, chalk board draft menu has the usual craft beer items, some nice surprises.. Hop Betty martini was nice, and the smoked burger is great! Easy place before an O’s Game!

Cool location, the old teller room (?) comes across as a temple of beer: Wooden surfaces, high ceilings and impossibly tall blackboards with the quite impressive beer selection. Unfortunately the big room also has a bit of an echo, which makes it loud. Friendly and efficient staff. The smoked burger with duckfat fries was great.

Lunch here while visiting. Kind of a unassuming place in a old brick building. Inside has hardwood floors, high ceiling, high windows and most importantly a tall menu of beers on tap (~40). Waitress knew her beer and offered samples. Food was very good, I did fish & chips with duck fat fries. Pricing was very fair. Nice place, hope to come here again.

Alewife is right in the middle of shady, grimy Baltimore so an absolute top-notch beer and food restaurant is quite strange to find. Alewife is in an old building with spiral staircases, an old wooden bar and tasteful paintings and decor. The beer selection is fantastic with locals and rarities. I only ate smoked tomato soup and grilled cheese, which was sensational. I wish I had been hungrier because this menu looks palate-blowing. I rode the MARC up from DC. The prices at Alewife and Baltimore in general are a little more friendly by comparison.
