Visited in 2012. Very cool place down in a cellar. Only downside is that it gets very crowded in the evening and the volume is very high. We had to stand close and scream to talk. So visit early in the day or evening to avoid the crowd. Nice selection of tap beers with mostly their own. Some very nice bottels beers as well.

The good: The ambiance could literally make Michael Jackson cry. Located in a old beer cellar with a huge fire place at the end of the room screams style. The taps change often with some truly unique brews on display. For best experience, visit early in the evening.
The bad: The acoustics can be truly horrible, making communication besides drinking a true nightmare.

An old beer storage cellar. Dark and athmospheric, although because it has a tunnel shape it gets loud quickly. 5 of their own brews and 6 guest on tap when I was there. Staff were friendly and liked to chat about beer and the world. Beers were very drinkable, and relatively speaking ok in price (strange to write that when you are paying €8 a beer). Overall thoroughly enjoyed the place and will definitely go back if I get back to Oslo.

The picture online of this place made me want to visit this place ASAP upon arrival, and IIRC, we did indeed go here late on the first night. Somehow the ambience is diminished a bit by the seating style/arrangement (all big communal tables, no private nooks), so it’s not a 5 like that cellar pub in Vilnius, but it’s quite cool for sure (and almost any beer here is 10x better than anything you’ll find in Lithuania, ha!). I didn’t have any of their own brews (a sniff of one suggests they’re pretty average), but they had some neat guest taps and a limited bottle list to choose from so I kept myself occupied with those. Not as much of a must-visit sorta place as I expected, but worth a stop of course.

Very nice locale, located in an old cellar with a huuge fireplace. Very good ambiance. Seating in booths or benches. Service is perfectly acceptable.

A small, old, underground brew space and drinking hall. Brick-lined arched ceilings, fire place and leather benches and booths, it’s cozy and warm and the beer selection is quite good. 4-5 house beers on tap with 6-7 guest taps, most are Anglo-American style hoppy beers. While the single hop Mosaic wasn’t my sort of thing, the fact that they are making low gravity single-hop IPA makes me happy. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. Definitely worthy of return visits.

This is more a need to see Place than a Place that i would be sitting in many hours. Been here many times, and in think the bartenders should be more into service :)

Wow, that’s a pub I’d like to have in my neighbourhood. First it is important to note this is an underground pub (A BEAUTIFUL underground cave) without a windows, so going there on a nice sunny day is not recommended, this is a pub to visit at night. We first tried to visit the pub on a superb sunny after-noon but we turned around and decided to come back later when it wasn’t so sunny (never really any night in mid-july Oslo) and it was a memorable pub experience. The inside of the pub is something to see, a dark cavernous pub with an impressive brick structure, this underground structure was certainly used for something else in the past. Equally impressive are the oversized big wood and leather furniture. This is one hell of a beautiful pub. Medium size, sits aabout 75 people. No food, this is a pub for adults to drink beer. 6 house beers + 6 guess beers on tap when I was there. Schouskjelleren’s hoppy beers can rival with the best Ameican hoppy beers. They also a two pages of bottle list (Norway, USA, Denmark, Belgium mostly). My waiter was also the brewer (an Englishman) and was one of the most passionate waiter I ever had. A fantastic place with a unique atmosphere, fantastic hoppy beers, and great non-hoppy beers. Loved this place.
