Spring break meets every Belgian beer you might or might not want to try. Crowded with an outdated beer list. It’s the lowest common denominator of people and service. Feels more like this should be located in Cancun.....

Me and Loz visited the Hoppy Loft on Thursday 19th March 2015. This was our first visit to the Hoppy Loft, not entirely sure how we’d not got here before. To access the loft is rather simple, instead of going into the main Delirium café you head upstairs instead, I guess the name gives a big clue. It is bigger than I expected, it is just one room with one very small bar. It was fairly quite on our visit with only a few customers in. Beer choice is clearly much more limited than downstairs but it’s well chosen and anyway it is a far more pleasant drinking experience. Re: beer, I forget what I had, though I do recall in a strange beer and arm unsynchronised disconnect moment, I ended up somehow throwing/spilling two thirds of it on the floor, Loz rather unhelpfully saying ’what did you do that for’ as though I did it on purpose. I liked it in here, it’s clear that they want to avoid much of the crowd that inhabits downstairs, with a list of things/types of people that they don’t want, so btw if you are a hipster you’re not welcome. It’s a far nicer, quieter and more pleasurable drinking experience up here. Will definitely return.

Being part of the Delirium Village this place is focused on special beers from all over the world. When I was there some Hornbeer were on tap, and I was able to get some U.S. bottles like Almanac Biere de Chocolat. Service was nothing special, but it was ok. Lots of people all the time, so don’t expect much quietness.

I don’t know why this place is rated so highly. I must have been good before I guess. Now it’s loud, lots of party people. Selection is average and service is non existent.

Good place upstairs from the more touristy bar. Service is knowledgable yet takes its time. Very good selection with some being a bit pricey. Overall good place to stop during your visit for a few and focusing on the beer not the surroundings.

Absolute must - wonderful place not just for a beer lover, but for any tourist. The extensive selection of beers and the bartenders who knew what to recommend helped me learn my taste years ago - this is where I fell in love with Orval. The way they poor beer is the show too.
The world beers are not that impressive though - many countries lack craft beers and rest represented by regular international lagers.

On top of the famous Delirium Village. I waited days for this place to open but I was ultimately disappointed. I think I know what they tried to create here but it’s not been entirely successful. The draft beer selection was small and mainly local beers. The bottled selection was extensive but not that impressive. It’s just too quiet. I know they bill it as a quiet place from where you can escape the madness down below, but is that what we want? We want good beer and atmosphere too. The beer here was fine, not great, but there is little atmosphere. It’s cold too and there is no wifi (one of the house rules). Yes I will return but so many people came up here and walked out again. Please turn up the heating, make the bar area a little more exciting, get some decent foreign beers on tap (its not hard) and get some wifi for us tickers! Oh...and a few more hops would not be out of place in the "hoppy" loft too. This place could be great but right now it’s only good. Hipsters are banned according to the house rules but maybe that’s what this place really needs... apart from the good beer, heating, hops and wifi :-) I had one beer and went downstairs...and I’m the kind of beer geek this place was built for!
