Happy to say this is my ílocalí. While tap beer selection is limited they usually manage to have one or two interesting beers available (while saving the others for more mainstream brews). This makes sense as the food is head and shoulders above the other beer bars in town and may attract clients for that reason only. The ambience is excellent, the staff are friendly, and Iíve always had a great time there.

Itís a small and cozy place with a small but quality selection. I was excited to see a hand pump at the bar but disappointed to see a keg trucked out and attached, I guess thatís how it goes. They serve a few of the Garage Projects beers, tap and bottle/can, which was the purpose of my visit. Bartender had some pretentiousness when answering questions about beer, something I didnít find pretty much anywhere else in town when asking the same questions in the same manner. YMMV.

Iíve always just popped in for beer although there is a fully kitted kitchen/restaurant attached. I really like the spot but prefer to visit when itís quieter as it does fill up quickly with punters. Fair ínuff as the beer range is solid and again, i usually pick up something new. Staff are always great, esp the female bar tenders who are always bubbly and enthusiastic about the beers. Oddly located behind KFC off the main road. Well worth a look innit.

Not bad. Nice place with a nice atmosphere. Solid selection but nothing completely wows me. Service was slow but not too bad. Alright but doesnít compare to some of the places in Wellington

Amidst the swelling of craft beer in bars around in Wellington, The Hop Garden offers something different...a great bar/restaurant that just has good beer as a matter of course. There is a maturity to that, which I like. Yes, some of the taps are more exciting than others, but there is plenty here to please the palate. And the food...just order the squid and youíll know what Iím talking about. A haven from the madness of Courtenay Place. The type of place you wish was just a 5 minutes walk down the hill from home. And if thirtsystirrer doesnít like it, then it is definitely a place I will...

Grape vines are hanging from the top. The sunlight is coming through the glass ceiling. Quite large space. As you walk in youíll see the bar on the left hand side and high tables in the front. Thereís dining space at the end and you can see the kitchen. The craft beers on tap are carefully selected and they have some imported bottle beers from America. The food is very tasty, European style.Reasonable price. The staff are experienced and they offer the great service. Good place to go for relaxing dinner and some craft beer.
