D&Q The Beer Station offers the best selection of beer in Houston. It is a fairly unassuming, regular - looking liquor store out front, but inside is packed full of beers. The selection is pretty large and diverse. It includes loads of Texan beers from a large range of Jester King to obscurities such as some pickle Berliner Weisse... Plenty of good US breweries and decent international range. I was very restrained when I visited and could have spent way more. Prices seemed reasonable and service was good. A top spot.
Brandon really knows his stuff about local releases and availability and is always quick to point out what is new in the store and help point you in the right direction. Prices are all reasonable and this is the best beer specialty shop in Houston.
Broad selection of local, national and international beer, personally curated by the friendly and knowledgeable owner. I comfortably browsed for half and hour, and came out with a truly great haul. Probably the best beer store in Houston.
Visited early evening on a Tuesday. Located in a neighborhood that has not yet seen the full on gentrification of nearby blocks. The store itself looks like a no frills cinder block liquor store, and the interior carries the same ambiance. However, the enormous selection and the fact that pretty much every beer you would want to buy is available as a single quickly overcomes the ambiance. A truly incredible range of local Texas, national and international craft brands. In particular, the huge range of Jester King beers impressed. Prices were high, though not entirely out of control. Guy working the register was friendly and knowledgeable. Though my experience is limited, this is certainly my top place to buy beer in Houston.
88 = ★★★★ (best in area, a must for locals and visitors)
I only use the total score, not the component parts.
This is my favorite beer store in Houston. Always a good selection and Brandon is always more than happy to point out anything new that he thinks I might enjoy. The best part is the selection of single bottles and cans, which is the best in town. Just about everything they carry is available as singles, and if you happen to find a six pack of something that you donít see in the singles section, Brandon is usually happy to break one up for you. Prices seem pretty average for the area.
Still looking for the best beer shop in Houston. This is doing well on that ranking. Quite a large selection, and also selling oncies and twocies. Still many 12oz beers only in 6-packs. Service is OK, not that many non-US beers, but that is not what I came for. OK shop
bit of a dumpy place, but well organized and with excellent selection. would like to see more singles, but thatís my only gripe. i actually thought the prices were better overall here than at specs. service was quite good.
I have been here 4 times in the past year and each time I visit, I find something new and learn something great.
The owners are Excellent hosts and make you feel at home, even when a busy holiday party is taking place. Granted, most people come here for the highlight - Texas beer, midwest beer, prairie - Great Plains beer.
My last visit awarded me with Prairie Artisan Ales Bomb, which I could possible never find in my little Armpit of the Panhandle FL.
What I love about this place the most is - the beer.
Itís a grand selection thatís constantly changing, and it features the best thatís available in this part of Texas. Cheers
Far from a good looking store, but the selection was very good, lots of singles available, lots of good beers in general and quite a few beers in the coolers. Could easily have spent several hundred dollars buying unsampled beers only, even more if I was going to pick favorites as well. Will definitely be back on my next visit to Houston.
Went into this shop and was amazed at the selection. The shop does not look like much form the outside, but inside there is beer everywhere. Looked around for 5 minutes then asked the owner or help. He immediately pointed out their best selections to drink now, cellar and other rare offerings.
He helped me look through the store and allowed me to choose what I wanted. Once I got to the front he offered me rare beers from the cooler that were not available to browsers. This included several special barrel offerings not available elsewhere
When I come back to Texas I will visit this place again. Hopefully to bring and trade Wisconsin beer.
