Stopped in on a Tuesday afternoon. Dummy me, I didnít check their hours before showing up. However, when I called them, they were very receptive and were willing to let me in anyway to buy a mixed six pack. The bar was closed unfortunately. It looked really cool. When we walked in, it just looked like office space, but the lady that took my call led us down to where the brewing and tap room was located. I could see all their brewing equipment and barrels. The brewing facility was just through an open doorway from the bar area. All I could tell that they had was their own beer, which is a good many different beers. I picked up a few new bottles for me in my mixed six pack and left. They said it was cash only. Not sure if thatís always how it is, or just because they didnít have the bar area open. Either way, I had the cash so no big deal. Iíd like to go back when they area actually open and give them a try.
Update: I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon. Parking beside the building doesnít look like it would be quite enough, but I guess it works. I had no trouble finding a parking spot. The tap room is in the basement of the building right in the middle of brewing operations. I saw a forklift with spent grain drive through the tap room on a couple occasions. They had a ton of their beers on draft, all the usual suspects plus about ten specialty and barrel aged beers. They had a root beer on draft as well that I particularly enjoyed. The bartender was quick to fill my glass when if got low and seemed pretty knowledgeable. My only gripe is that the barrel aged stuff is not available in sample pours. Seems to me those especially should be available in samples. Anyway, I was allowed to get half pours of the barrel aged offerings which turned out to be about the same quantity I would Have gotten in a sample pour. Pricing was very good as well. When the bartender told my what I owed, I had to ask they got everything. The bartender got a very nice tip.

Wow, what can I say about this place, absolutely world class when it comes to accomodating customers. Ambiance is a fair large micro brwery, with the most amazing walk in cooler ive ever seen where they kept the kegs of probably 15 of their beers. Service was awesome, tour guide was hard working and knowledgable, and hooked us up with free full samples of anything they had kegs of. Value was great, as rthe tour was free with free beer!. Overall certainly worth touring or stopping by and getting a growler fill.

Located about a mile off the freeway in Akron I have visited several times in recent years as its about 30 minutes from my home. My most recent visit was in the last month.
You have to walk through the brewery to get to the bar area they have set up. You can sit at the bar and get small a small taste at no charge. They donít do samplers. You can also order pints and growlers of everything on tap to go. Next to the bar is a cooler with everything in bottles that they sell. And a small area behind the bar that has merchandise for sale.
Its pretty straight forward. A bar where you can sit and enjoy a pint and take some home. Only issue I have is growler prices. $40-$50 range for their barrel aged offerings. I understand how the barrel stuff works. Buying barrels and having them take up space, etc. You can see all the barrels all around the bar area which is pretty cool. But thatís a lot for a growler fill.
Overall worth a stop to try a pint of brewery only offerings if you are in the area.

(Visited 03/2011): Thirsty Dogís brewery/tap room is located on Ghent Rd not too far off I-76. There is a decent-sized lot along the building.
The interior is long and narrow with the bar running along the right side and tables on the left. Rather large bottle collection as well as barrels add to the decor. They also have a cooler for to-go beer.
Thirsty Dog has around 12 of their brews on tap. Many of the standard offerings such as Labrador Lager, Old Leghumper, Cerberus, Irish Setter and Siberian Night. Some unique options as well such as Barrel Aged Siberian Night.
Service was good on a weekend afternoon. The staff knows the beers well and is courteous.
Overall I am glad there is an option for Thirsty Dog in Akron again so many years after the demise of the brewpubs. Definitely worth a stop in the Akron area.

Awesome brewery because you are actually in the brewery during production sipping their beers. The hours are not normal, but you can bring your own food. The people working there truly appreciate good beer! The beer taste great too! Bring a growler on "thirsty thursday" to get a discount!
