Went here with my cousin David. Nice authentic looking bierhaus with lots of Hofbrau on tap. Enjoyed it.

A smaller Americanized version of Hofbrauhaus. I didn’t eat, but the food looked good. Hofbrauhaus brews on tap in the typical large mugs. Staff in the same garb. But the overall experience is just not something that can be duplicated. A noble effort though.

Large room with Bavarian style wooden benches and a wide bar area, small band playing live music (not polka though) in the corner, waitresses dressed as the Valkyrie of the Bavarian Oktoberfests (albeit smaller in size), 4 regular and one seasonal Hofbrau on tap. Nice place for 1-2 beers after work.

The first thing you’ll notice is either the presence of a German beer hall in midtown NYC or the fact that’s sitting on top of both a Dunkin Donuts and a Wendy’s. Inside is a nice (almost too clean) German halle with plenty of benches, a long bar, and a small balcony/patio. Some other comical details that you’ll notice once inside are the presence of the “smoking area” outside and the “stein club” (would be funnier if it was called the Steinklub). The smoking area is a small room that is isolated from the rest of the balcony and is only accessible from through the balcony. So if you’re going to smoke you’re banished to the corner. Also of note is the fact that you can get more Hofbrau beers on tap here than you can at the source, at least when I was there during Oktoberfest.

The servers were friendly and all wearing dirndls naturally. Surprisingly I noticed at least a few actual Germans in the place. Since I was bar hopping I didn’t stick around too long, just long enough to have a half liter of the dunkelweizen and a bowl (probably more than I needed) of the goulash. Both were pretty good but not amazing. Prices were high. $18 for a beer and a bowl of soup, before tip. Ouch. Most of that was the food but the beers aren’t exactly cheap either. $8 for a half liter, $16 for a full liter, and apparently everything is also available in a 2L boot for $32. If this place had Vitus on tap I’d be in trouble (not that they would since that’s a different brewery altogether).

Over all a cool place but it’s a beer hall, not a fancy restaurant and not a beer nerd spot.

A really nice place to do something Bavarian. Beers are mostly from Staatliches Hofbräuhaus München. Food ok for locals but far from what is in German, but they do a good job of trying. Service is spot on and prices are normal for New York for imported products. A great place for a group.

Nice setup, definite bierhall feel to it. A decent option when you’re in midtown. They only serve HB beers here but I’m always down for a dunkleweiss. Staff has always been very friendly when I’ve sat at the bar. Food is pretty good, and the pretzels are terrific.

This is a mini version of the Hofbrau Haus in Munich. From the litre mugs to the oompah band, and of course real honest to goodness Hofbrau, they go it right. This is going to be a regular stop whenever I’m in NYC.

This place is really cool beer hall, very clean and sweet decor. They serve only Hofbrau beers so although they have 24 taps there was only 5 choices. I was recently at original Hofbrauhaus so thought this would be fun trip down memory lane and it was. Food was very good German fare.
