I’ve been to a couple of Vinbuđin shops on Iceland during the years, and this one is the best, simply because you can walk into a room with lots of beer, instead of just a small section. Stacks of cans in the middle of the floor, and bottles in shelves on two walls. Also, since it’s not placed in a big shopping mall, it’s not a very crowded place, so if you have a car, this is where you should go. (I think the bus stops nearby, though)

Best monopoly store in Reykjavik. Same selection as in Heiđrún and Kringlan but more turnover and often fresher imports. Service is the best in the monopoly chains. Selection is decently set up compared to other stores.

On a Saturday evening just before 6pm, just before closing time, we wander in to look at the Icelandic beer selection. There are no coolers but it seems they have high turnover and none of the bottles we picked up seem old. A lot of Borg and some Gaedingur and a lot of macro Juleol garbage to scroll past. It’s not a nice store to visit, it’s out of the way from city center and only easy if you have a car. And prices aren’t very cheap compared to bottles prices out in town. Here you will pay about 60-80% of bottle prices in bars.
