Were in M&S in Eastbourne and on the IoW on our last England vacation. Selection is nice and different to other supermarkets and found quite some nice beers to bring home. Also ciders. Prices little bit more expensive I would say.Worth a visit.

Review is for Glasgow and the one in Hamilton that I have been visited a lot. Selection of their own brand brewed by some European/UK breweries, found a cheery wheat beer gem today...

Better range than Tescos or Sainsburys. A few beers stocked which are brewed for them is different. The one near me has around 50 beers, mainly stuff brewed for them by Oakham and the likes but you’ll always be able to find something ok I guess. Probably the best of the chain supermarkets

Coming back from my experience of M & S in Belgium (before they had to close due to major losses), they always seemed like a luxury place, cool to buy a couple of things but too expensive to actually start getting food from there. In London that impression carried through & it counts for the prices of their beers as well. They have a lots of stuff under their own brand, all of them look like label beers, most of it probably not too good and for random mildly interesting tick’s the prices scared me away. I just opted to scroll past as a visitor there is not much to do here beer-wise.

As a place to pick up beers you could do worse than Marks and Spencers. The locations that I visited did not carry too many outside labels. However the house beers represent a wide variety of British styles (and beyond). Contract brewed by some of the better breweries they may not be great but they are one step above mass market swill. If you need to do some shopping and don’t mind paying more for better quality then stop by the beer aisle when doing your weekly grocery shopping. Otherwise there is no reason to go out of your way.

Most Marks and Spencer shops with a food section have at least a small stand of their own brand beers alongside the wine shelves. If you’re lucky there may be as many as 40 or 50. The labels say they’re brewed especially for M&S but I think most are rebadges. If the brewer isn’t listed, you may be able to guess where the beer is from; for example, the “Sovereign”, with its picture of two swans on the label, is surely “Windsor Knot” from Windsor and Eton. The quality of the beers I’ve had has been very consistent, as is the case with M&S food. (Last visited 24 June 2013).

A bit pricey but worth visiting to get some of their own brand beers that are brewed by others. I have usually tried all the new stuff within a few weeks though and have to wait for another seasonal change.

You’ll always find something of interest in an M&S. They carry beers under their own name that are ordinarily a standard brewery offering aliased - so not too many new rates in essence. Cambridgeshire Bitter = Oakham JHB for instance! Prices are on the high side, the Greenwich Hospital Porter was something like £9.99 ! Service is fine in the sense that it’s efficient and friendly but don’t expect the staff to know much about the beers!

I don’t often buy my beers from M&S. They have a decent range of beers and ciders made for them by breweries from throughout Europe. The prices aren’t really that great, especially considering many of the beers are average at best. I don’t even really buy much food from here. One for the desperate tickers...

Always like M&S for a variety of goods. Only in the UK once or twice per year so they will undoubtedly have something new whenever I’m there.
