The 2nd part of my Akron brewery tour. The tasting room doesn’t have much of an ambiance. I sat at the bar and had a very informative and friendly bartender. Very fast service, although it was crowded. I didn’t try any food, but it is a smaller menu. Like others have said the beer is more expensive here and you can get a 5oz, 8oz, or 16oz pour. I still think for the quality of the beer, the prices aren’t terrible. A nice selection of their own beers on draft and guest beers. You can also get bottles here, some are vintages and very expensive and others are between $5-10. Overall, it was a great experience here and the beers were in great condition.

First time here lots of rare beers available, 2 burbons on tap. I didn’t try the food its all over the place in style I would say that’s their weakest link.

What a bust. Drove from Cleveland to get here, atmosphere was kind of pathetic, beer was ample, but aside from the couple of great beers they make the rest falls right about average, the beer seems pricier than most of the facilities I’ve been too, same for the food. Way overpriced for what you get. Wouldn’t recommend going, there’s entry of other beer out there and a way better value elsewhere.

I was disappointed with this place. I live near by and had been waiting for this to happen for a while. But I was let down. It’s loud (even after they hung acoustic panels), expensive and the food wasn’t great. I’ve been to a few brewery tap rooms and found the beer prices here to be high. Food is expensive and you don’t get much. I’ve been there 3 times and had the same experience every time. It also seems like the taproom beer consumption has affected the amount of beer and styles that are available in retail stores. But I could be mistaken. I’m done with it.

It has been about two years since I have been working in this area and was surprised to hear that Hoppin Frog has opened up a tasting room with full beer selection and food.
A: The place is really nice with a good sized double sided bar and plenty of tables around he walls and some high tops. The place is brand new so it is obviously clean.
Q: They had plenty of 85+ rated beers on tap plus several guest taps too, that are also decent.
S: Service was decent as the barmaid was very attentive and the owners wife and bar manager stopped by to say Hi and see if everything was okay
S: The selection of beers was decent as they had roughly 25+ taps but heavily skewed towards Stouts, which is the basis of Hoppin Frogs best beers.
F: I had a Spicy Shrimp served over a bed of dirty rice, cooked very well with a nice amount of cajun spice to kick the heat up for a while but not over power you...solid.
V: I am a big fan of the 5oz, 8oz, 16oz option and they were all reasonably priced. The food I ordered was a couple bucks higher than would have liked but it was definite quality.
Overall, my biggest complaint about Hoppin Frog...they dont sell stickers! But you can grab some great beer (in house or to go) and some solid food in a great brewery environment. The setting is more of a brewery with a tasting room than brewpub.

Stopped by on my way to Michigan. The staff is super friendly and easy on the eyes. The food is better than most breweries. The prices were slightly high but not crazy. Will definitely go back.

(Visited 07/2013 and a few times since): Hoppin’ Frog has recently expanded operations to include a tasting room. I had stopped by the brewery several times in the past, and it was basically a place to buy bottles in the midst of the brewery in a storage garage. The tasting room now occupies the space next to the brewery on 224 (Waterloo Road) right off an access road. Parking is available in front of the building and on the side near the road.
The interior of the tasting room opens to a bar in the center of the space with high tables on either side. Mustard yellow walls with some Hoppin’ Frog breweriana on the walls. There is also a digital board on the far wall listing the beers.
As for the beers there are around 20 taps, including many house beers like Bairille Aois, Cafe BORIS, Mean Manalishi and Gangster Frog. Other taps from craft breweries like Unibroue, Brooklyn and Bells. They even had a couple Meads from Crafted Artisan down the road. Samplers are available. As for bottles they carry all of the Hoppin’ Frog brews including some of the vintage and rare stuff.
Service on my visits has been consistently good. We visited during the "soft opening" and then again during grand opening weekend. The brewer Fred always seems to be nearby and interacts with his customers.
The food at Hoppin’ Frog is eclectic and is good. There are charcuterie plates and meals like duck tacos.
All in this is a great spot now with the tasting room in play.

Newly opened after a lot of planning and work I’m sure.
It is off the beaten path. Not easy to find unless you spot the small Hopping Frog sign off the highway. (Be careful when leaving, ,,,, if wanting to turn left after drinking, it is an accident waiting to happen. Not the owners fault, it is what it is).
Overall a well done place. Friendly staff, with many beers offered, both theirs and others. These are all high end, high alcohol beers, so again, be careful. The food is very good. The overall scene will improve as they tweak the sound for better music and get a more readable beer menu ( the type is too small and isn’t descriptive enough, unless you know you beers).
I know the owner is a fan of high strength beers. But imo, to broaden the base of customers they need to offer more ’regular’ beers otherwise ladies and wimpy men might not be repeat customers.
But overall it is a nice spot. Wish there was an outdoor add on, but the location limits it.
If you know their beer quality and appreciate other offerings ,,,, you will overall like this place.

Ambiance was small area to buy beer inside the bottling area of the brewery. Staff was very helpful as soon as we walked into the door and guidedus to the beer cooler and whole cases. Selection as nice as I was able to get sseveral of their beers we don;t get in PGH, including BORIS 100 which has been out for a while Prices for some stuff are expensive, others not too bad, but still significantly lower than in stores. Overall worth going to if around akron, as long as you can find it and see the sign.
