46 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 5/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 10/20
One of my least favorite Whole Foods for beer. Itís very small, you bump into people. Chef Alex is a cool cat, but seems like no one is manning the ship in the beer dept. The selection is lame. What I do like is something random will pop up like some Lips of Faith or Coronado. The prices are a bit higher, because I guess the UCLA students can afford it. Overall its a miss not a hit.

72 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 16/20
Good selection of beers - same as beverly hill, but a tad bit more crowded at certain times because it is in the middle of a college town. Parking is connected and easy. No one really knows beer that well.

58 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 4/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 12/20
A smaller, older Whole Foods with a good selection of beers leaning toward West Coast and belgian beers. Not nearly as extensive as selections at other locations but one of the better selections in the area.

Better than the Brentwood location. Service staff doesnít know the first thing about beer. I was asked after purchasing a bunch of 750ís of Californian beer if it was champagne or regular wine (uhh, neither of the above). For selection, let me just say that it has the full range of Alesmith, Lost Abbey and Stone, and a few Pizza Port. A decent amount of belgians (full Rochefort), Canadians (picked up Unibroue 17 which is still very very new (sub 30 ratings)) and some really off wall stuff (Michelob Celebrate, Fullers 2006 (it is 2008 right now), and all the old Anchor Vintage ales from 2003 onwards. Very impressive.
Selection has improved dramatically since the new beer buyer was hired. Bruery Beers, Russian River sours, and all the big time, hard to get releases in the area.

Just south of UCLA campus. Nice setting in a nice area of the city. While in LA for a conference I went to 2 Whole Foods - this one and one in Pasadena. I went to this one first and was pretty impressed with the overall selection. However, in rating this I really need to consider both Whole Foods since a írelativeí measurement is more meaningful. This Whole Foods has an above average beer selection. Not a large selection by count, but a fairly strong Belgium and US Micro selection. Coming from Canada I was happy to see a relatively large Unibroue contingent. Overall above average than what I have seen in my travels, but not even close to the Pasadena Whole Foods, but that my friend is another story (or posting).....
