Nice place, I wasnít expecting much of the beer selection, but was pleasantly surprised. Decent list of beers on tap- even some stuff that is not in the database yet. Best Bratwurst I have had in the States so far...thatís a big compliment ;) Service very nice, place was packed during the week at lunch time. I would come back

Jacobís Pickles Visited May 28, 2014.

This was the surprise of the night. Wasnít expecting much from the name. I honestly thought this was going to be a store that specialized in pickles and had maybe a small bar with a couple of taps. Turns out itís actually a happening restaurant with a decent beer selection. They of course have some house made pickles too but I scrolled right on by those (despite being German) and went for the food and beer. The biscuits with the various dipping sauces (appetizer) was both good tasting and fun. They provide a couple different butters and a couple different jams. The combination of the butter with the maple syrup in it with some strawberry jam on top was probably the best part of the dinner. The beer was OK. I went with a tick naturally. Prices were high but not out of the ordinary for Manhattan. Itís also on an interesting street that I had never been on. Amsterdam has a ton of bars and restaurants on it if youíre looking to do some pub crawling before/after walking through Central Park. Despite advertising pickles in the name I will recommend this place.

This Upper West Side restaurant seems to take some of the trends that have been happening in Brooklyn - like Southern fried chicken and craft beer - and moves them to a Manhattan space with nice decor and Manhattan prices attached. It has quickly become a popular place. There are 25 taps, but they donít change often enough, the prices are pretty high, and I have only seen one or two things there that I hadnít already tried. The real draw seems to be the food - fried chicken and other meats dishes, and a nice selection of pickles. I will have to have a full meal here at some point. It is worth checking out, but to become a destination beer pub, it needs a better selection.
