Great space. The converted firehouse feels bright and spacious. Semi hip, but certainly inclusive vibes. I visited at 4pm on a Sunday and found the place to mostly be occupied by families with kids. The 20ish taps almost exclusively showcased Virginian breweries. Quality offerings from the likes of Strangeways, Lickinghole Creek, and Devils Backbone featured. The foodís recommended. My fried green beans had great texture, the burger toppings were tasty and creative. Prices were decent. Overall, a good hangout.

Not a massive beer list but an interesting one featuring several local breweries. All were of good quality. My nachos were good and the service excellent. My favourite of the 3 bars I visited in this town.

Definitely my second favorite burger bar in the city. Solid selection of brews and burgers - though, imho, what they really shine at is their side dishes. Great sweet potato tots, awesome deviled eggs, fried green beans, the list goes on. The atmosphere is what really makes this place though. Its a fire station for crying out loud! I love going in the warmer months because they roll up the huge front doors and the whole place is open air. AND they grow their own hops above your head if you choose to eat out on the patio. Really dig this joint.

My current favorite place in Richmond. We drive the 45 minutes down there just to eat and drink here. Food is simple but excellent. Beer selection ainít huge, but always interesting and constantly rotating. Service has slacked off a bit recently, but hopefully that can turn around. The building is nice (old firehouse). They often have the big garage-style doors open. The place only seems to get really crowded and loud at night, but otherwise itís easy to get in. Nice little patio with hops growing right out front. They do a lot of special beer events.

Located in an old firehouse, this place maintains a lot of the original decor, which is cool. The place was pretty empty for Sunday brunch. Service was spotty and times but was generally very good. Parking was easy on the street, and while inside I saw a sign for more parking somewhere. The food was excellent... pork chops covered in sausage grave with a waffle. Awesome. Beer list is solid with lots of local offerings. I had a Devils Backbone/Heavy Seas Black Summit. Prices were a bit high on beer, but decent on the food. I was a bit annoyed they had a beer on the menu that wasnít yet available. Overall... Iíd definitely stop by again.

Swung by after getting off early one day. Casual but nice- has a kind of neighborhood and maybe hipster vibe. Place was quiet at 4 on a Tuesday so service was very efficient. Pretty good selection of locals. Burger was good. They have a big selection of burgers, too, with a focus on local sourcing- and they manage to keep the pricing reasonable. Nice little patio.

This was a great recommendation from the staff at Commercial Taphouse. Nice location in an old firehouse, with some outdoor tables as well. Draft and bottle list are both very heavy on the local and Virginia beers, including some of the smaller breweries in the boonies.Hamburgers are amazing. Staff is obviously interested in the beers, Clay did a solid job. Hopefully the upstairs will be open at some point.
