Very cool brewpub in redone strip. Lots of beer on tap and a few guests. 5 ounce pours available. Lovely space inside. My new favorite place in Indy.

Smallish place with a large tall bar, a group of tables and a small patio. Eleven of their own beers on tap, each one better than the next. We did a flight of everything. Then we noticed the bottle list - Chimay Doree for six bucks? yes please. Server was friendly, engaging and knowledgeable, and did a great job covering all the tables plus the patio. I hope his mom bring him good beers back from DC, o/w Iíll send him some. Food looked good but we had just eaten, so Iíll have to return for that. Terrific place, worth going out of your way to try.

One of the best places to get a brilliant beer in Indy. The food is fantastic, and the rotating of food trucks and offering of sunday brunch only adds to itís awesomness. They constantly change up the list, so itís pretty much impossible to have just ONE favorite from this place. Justin and the guys are going places- this is just their stepping stone to bigger things.

Small brewpub in a strip mall. Quiet and relaxing pub (at least when I was there). Nice selection of their beers with a few guest taps. Not much competition in the area but still a nice stop - only a few miles off East 465 and I-70. Extra parking in the back.

(Visited 05/2014): Black Acre is located on E Washington Street east of downtown. Street parking is available in front of the building, and there is a lot in back.

There is a patio in front of the brick building, and inside the bar is on the left and there is table seating on the right. Woven wooden staves make up the walls and ceiling, and there are hanging lights made out of cut growlers. The wraparound bar features a black marble top and a board behind it listing the available beers.

Black Acre has around 18 taps, with 12 of them being house beers. On my visit this included Audobon Alt, a Braggot, Thirsty Reasons KŲlsch, a couple IPAs, a Wit and Phantom Cat Foreign Stout. All of the beers were above average, and samplers are available. Guest taps are available as well from breweries like North Coast, Victory and Stone.

Service at the bar was good. The bartenders were friendly and knowledgeable about the beers.

I did not have food on this visit.

Overall Black Acre is a solid brewpub to visit in the Indianapolis area.

Stopped by with the Mrs. this past weekend and was glad I did. The atmosphere, service, and selection were all good. I didnít eat, but they have a limited menu, and apparently a food truck comes by one night a week as well. Worth a stop if youíre in the area.

I disagree with some of the previous raters, enough that Iíve delayed for two weeks before posting. The ambiance is nice, but not especially noteworthy. The service was a mix - sometimes fast (food delivery, first flight of beer) sometimes very slow (more beer, more appetizers), to dead slow (never returned for my payment (so I left cash....and left). Their beers are respectable, and the guest taps give other local brewers an outlet. Iíd give it another chance.

The last place I visited on my trip to Indy yesterday, and easily my favorite of the 3. The first step I took inside brought a smile to my face - while relatively small, the interior decor is beautiful. Lots of clean wood paneling and modern touches. A respectably sized bar, plenty of taps (9 house, about 7 guest), and a standing bar across from the main bar (a touch I always appreciate). Plenty of seating in the dining room, with big windows facing the street. On monday night they feature a food truck, I got a very satisfying burrito for $5 in between my 11 tasters ($2 each). I thought the house beers were above average, I particularly liked the weizenbock and DIPA. Service was pretty good, my bartenders were pretty attentive and patient for the most part, and reasonably knowledgeable, it seemed. They were more willing to offer local place recommendations too, than the guys at Crown Liqours downtown (they recommended I try Khan next time). Good selection of guest taps, 2 of the ~7 were new to me (boulevard 80 Acre and Boulder Cold Hop). Overall, I really enjoyed my stay, and will be sure to visit again when I return to Indy.

A cozy brewpub on the outskirts of Indy. It has a homey feel - itís not too big of a place, just a small bar and some tables. Nice alternative rock music playing in the background. I donít believe there were any TVs. There were 8-10 house beers, as well as 6-8 guest taps (Stone RIS, Bier Brewery, Tyranena, Old Rasputin, Flat 12, and others). The house beers were very good and plenty of interesting styles (rye IPA, berlinner weisse, foreign export stout, california common, and black IIPA, among others). Overall the beers are very well crafted. Iím not sure about the food situation - they did have a Sunday brunch offering available (just one choice) when I was there. A great stop in Indy, top notch beers.
