One of the better GK pubs. Seemed to be one of the last places that regularly had the GK mild, apart from the Portland Arms. Alas, it wasnít always on top form. Quirky interior, can be a bit claustrophobic. Itís trivial to incorporate this into almost any Cambridge-wide pub crawl, as itís near several really excellent venues, so worth just popping into on the off-chance.

72 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 4/10 OVERALL 13/20
Solid GK pub off the beaten path. GK staples (including XX Mild) plus four cask guests. A smattering of US craft bottles - basic but lovely stuff such as Anchor and Rogue - give added choice. A popular pub that is making an effort and succeeding admirably.

Despite the myraid tchotchkes adorning the walls, this backstreet boozer has a fairly spartan feel to it; it could be the concrete floors and the hospital-inspired lighting scheme. Itís a Greene King pub, so in terms of beer quality you know what youíre getting yourself into. Although, I should add that I found some rather exotic GK beers in here during my visit, which gave me a real thrill. The value is pretty poor considering these are crappy low ABV offerings. The pub has boardgames to keep its occupants happy. Probably worth a quick stop if youíre passing by.

A Greene King place. Nothing wrong if you like Greene King beers. IPA 3,8% was the only one I had (2010).
