Stopped in later in the afternoon on a Sunday. Right across the street from Downtown Brewery. The bar seems a little dark, but it’s lit enough to see. The bar is on the left side of the building with a chalk board on the wall with the beers they have on tap. They do offer flights, and they are available in whatever quantity you like. During my visit, they had several Tennessee beers on tap, but they also had some good stuff on from out of state. The service was quick and very friendly. Prices were good, too. I would recommend stopping by if you are in the area.

Visited here this past Friday night...decent enough place. Good selection of draft beers (nothing too amazing) some bottles/cans. The place was very crowded...yet they made a point of serving those that were back away from the bar (self included). Good music playing on the sound system. A number of the drafts were tapped out...strangely they didn’t seem to be in any hurry to replace them...which would seem to be a win on a crowded weekend evening. The bar itself looked pretty cool...probably more enjoyable when not as busy. The staff seemed very friendly too, All in all I found this place a bit above average but nothing special...the high review marks this place has received likely reflect the lack of craftbeer competition in the area. I would suggest a stop here only if in the area...not a place to out of your way for like Blue Tick Brewery down in Maryville.

Visited March 2015 to hang out with... well... Suttree (of no relation, apparently). Nice place, wooden vibe, old school bar, neat wooden bench seating on one side jumped out at me. Friendly staff on my visit with a good mix of local brews, some more common ones, some BA stuff, and more. Worth a stop is my guess! I had a great time! And they do flights!!

This place was pretty full early on a Monday evening, a good sign. Old characterful building. Long bar, service only there, and lots of tables. Beers are available in pints, 10 ounce glasses or flights of any number, four ounce pours. Staff knew their stuff, and were generous with the samples. Thank you, Suttree (no relation) for meeting me here!

NIce selection of draft beer, more limited selection of bottles. Friendly and nice staff. Pleasant place to hang out. A big plus that you can get samples (about 3 oz) of all beers on tap.

I didn’t take many notes at Suttree’s as I was too busy enjoying myself but I had an impression of a long narrow bar with lots of wood and high top tables. Second only to the excellent company (Phil, Wendy, Barbara and Chris) was the beer list, which was terrific, and next time I’m in Knoxville this will definitely be my number one go-to place. I went in on a Monday so not sure what the bar is like during the weekend. But was very happy with their beer selection. Service was great and they have a rotating tap system which I love.

Nice place. I like the darkened wood, low-light, and chalkboard menu lit up with street lights. The barkeep was attentive. I didn’t order any food but the guy beside had a sandwich and it looked pretty good. The selections are pricey. $5 for an IPA in a tulip...I don’t think so. I like the place an the staff...if they would lower the prices some I would frequent more.

I’ve been in several times now and it’s hit or miss. They do get beers that aren’t available anywhere else in the area, but they also serve them ice cold, in very full glasses, and with no head. Food is pretty minimal. Still the best place to get a beer in Knoxville.

While their food selection may not be the biggest in the world, it is by far better fare than most bars. Offering a good selection of taps, Suttree’s gets some beers that you just can’t seem to find anywhere else in Knoxville. It’s a short walk from The Casual Pint, just across the street from the Downtown Brewery, and the people there are friendly. You’ll get your fair share of beer snobs there, but that only speaks to the quality of their offerings. I really enjoy the atmosphere. If I lived closer it would be one of my two main haunts downtown. As it is, I live about 10 miles away, so I’m limited to one or two beers when I go, depending on the ABV of the brews.
