Belle petite place, bonnes beer. Terrasse pour l’été. Le menu est bon, un peu cher pour certaines bières. Top place à Ottawa avec une bonne sélection.

Located just off the historic Byward Market, this rather modern restaurant scores high on RB but this is probably only justifiable on the grounds of the very impressive selection of bottled beers. I had a flight of six ales from tap, none of which was particularly impressive. The staff are polite and seem to know something about the beer they sell, although some of their policies are rather silly: there is a flight called "the other guys" and it is jot to be revealed to the guest what it consists of until ordered. The food is reasonable but not mindblowing. Quite a pricy place. Normals and lovers of bottled beer mighy have fun there but beer hunters chasing flights would probably be served better elsewhere.

First stop for a beer in Ottawa. Propped up to the bar where a couple of after-work drinkers already there to slake their thirst. The restaurant side was completely dead however it was early week. There’s a decent tap list and it’s a good introduction to some local breweries. Also, check the bottle list for interesting stuff. There’s a nice side patio when the weather is good. Top of the list for beer selection in Ottawa.

Beautiful, sunny Tuesday afternoon in May. The place is almost empty. Not totally surprising, considering it’s mid afternoon after a long weekend. Small food menu, big beer menu. My burger was burnt. Others seemed to be enjoying their food, though. Very friendly, helpful service. Great location.

Sat at the bar. Good selection of draught beer and a cask available. Great selection of bottles available. Easily the best in the city. Had pints of Sawdust City 11.05, Kentucky Bastard and Nickelbrook Cuvee on tap. Bottles of Freitgeist, GLB Barney Dubbel from fridge. Service was friendly and knowledgeable about both food and beer. Had the trout for dinner and it was done perfectly. Great spot! My go to for great beers and great food in the city.

When: Attended their Bourbon Barell Aged beer event on Nov 24th. What: 4 course tasting menu with beer pairings:1st was Beef tar tar with capers. preserved lemons, raz el hanout and harissa yogurt paired perfectly with subtle sherry and citrus notes with vanilla laced dried fruit of the Nickelbrooks Cuvee. The 2nd course was fig and mascarpone stuffed agnolotti with wild mushrooms in a brown butter and sage sauce paired perfectly with earthy, candied field fruit and bourbon components of the Beau’s hibernal Solstice. The 3rd course was a brown ale marinated perfectly grilled flank steak who’s sublte smoke and charred played off of Nickel Brooks Kentucky Bastards bourbon barrel aged imperial stout iike a dream, The 4th a final course hit the table in the form of a torched shmore that is highlighted by the german rauchbier smoked marshmallow that played off of the Slightly smokey yet super fruity notes of Beaus Party of five, All in all every course was well paired to highlight the impeccably prepared food through incredible delicious beers. Our bartender was phenomenally knowledgable as he guided us through the flavour profiles of each course and gave us interesting facts about each beer as he poured them. The place was packed on a Monday giving it a great feel and I couldn’t have been happier with my experience, One of the only places in town to get amazing beer with amazing food.

When I visited: Mid-November 2014.
What I had: Beau’s Dial "Z" For Zwickel, Nickel Brook Ontario Wet Hop Pale Ale, and Rodenbach Grand Cru on tap, Covered Bridge Moustache SMaSH IPA on cask, sample of the Dominion City Earl Grey Marmalade Saison, Pan-seared Steelhead Trout for dinner, a couple waters.
What I liked: Cozy bar area with about eight seats, clearly visible tap handles, efficient and engaging service, good conversation to be had, impressive draft list with excellent style variation, delicious food, a few rarities in bottles.
What I disliked: Limited hours including on weekends, prices are on the high side (especially the entrees), not as many local crafters on tap as I expected.
Would I go back? Yes. While there’s certainly some room for improvement, Brothers was the best beer bar that I hit during my time in Ottawa.
