A smallish bar which can get fairly crowded at night. The beer range is good with the cask beers being turned over pretty quickly. Sometimes I felt that they could do with more members of staff at peak times, but that doesn’t detract from what is a great place to go to for beer.

Stunning gothic and old world interior. Lots of beer, unfortunately most American. Good service and good prices. A very nice place to relax when you want to guarantee an older quieter crowd. Nice place.

Another great city centre bar, in a city that really is overflowing with beery riches. Nice dark wood interior, cracking selection on cask and keg, always has a few surprises, when you call in. Service could be a little better, but the quality and atmosphere of the place make up for that. Another must visit if you’re in The Toon.

Lady Grey’s is probably my favourite pub in Newcastle. It provides a good balance between old and new in terms of decor. Nice laid-back atmosphere. They have 8 interesting cask ales on offer, including plenty of local stuff (Anarchy/Tyne Bank/Sonnet 43). On out visit half of the cask beers were new to RB, which is pretty cool. They also boast a good bottle menu with European, US & Local craft beers. A great little place and a must-visit beer destination in Newcastle.

I really like the Lady Grey, both as a stop of for refresher while shopping in town, and as a port of call on a night out. Has a particularly relaxed and mature ambiance, even when busy. Always a good selection, and friendly staff who will usually let you try a sample.

Crackin' pub! There on a Wednesday evening and it was packed with a killer vibe. Nice fin du ciecle sort of decor. Spot on service. Down the road from the Tyneside Cinema, which is just amazing, a world class art cinema in a historic art deco building. Love Newcastle!

I like Lady Greys. It’s open late so accommodates other bartenders past midnight. A good range of ever-changing hand pull ales, with a local regular, in Mordue’s Northumberland Blonde. A good selection of bottles from all over. Barstaff are friendly and happy to give samples of ales. Nice decor and it’s cosy and dark with a lot of wooden and glass features. Nice late night drinking hole.

I didn’t get down to the Free Trade, but among Newcastle bars, this was #2, right after Bacchus. The selection was good and interesting, including both handpulls and taps. It didn’t look like a beer bar from the outside but it was hopping inside with a relatively beer-geek crowd, and the bartender was particularly knowledgeable about beer, including American breweries. Very much a good destination in Newcastle, and it’s really close to Bacchus.

From the outside appearance appearance and the signage you'd imagine this as an 'old mans pub' but it's not. Inside is a stylish mix of old and cool modern. 6 real ale taps available plus a few good kegs in addition to the usual run of the mill stuff. Good bottle selection too. Interesting food selection too. On the whole a very nice bar.
