A faded old London boozer with a certain messy charm, thereís a decent selection of cask ales and ciders, friendly service and fairly reasonable prices. Visited on a Saturday evening with Jmgreenuk who was very quick to state that he really likes The Cock.

Visited mid afternoon on a Tuesday in September 2013, so unsuprisingly not very busy. A decent pub, with a traditional theme including heritage handpulls. Howling Hops and other London brews were available, plus some decent ciders. Worth a visit.

The major selling point is the beer, and the rest fell short for me. I didnít get a very good first impression when I came in - it seemed a bit smelly and grungy, and I had to persuade my girlfriend that it was worth staying! I went to a few pubs in Hackney on the day and this one certainly had the best selection.

This really was like stepping into a bygone era: original fixtures and fittings and gloomy lighting. Awesome line up of beers and the house brewery ainít too shabby neither. Great stuff.

One of the new breed of ímoderní old style boozers. Ceramic tile decorations, minimal wooden tables, along similar lines to Holborn Whippet and Southampton Arms. Most importantly, a range of about 14 cask taps and 6 keg taps, featuring many of their own beers, which are of an excellent craft beer variety. Crowd is dressed down young urban types, and thankfully not too many of the hipster clones. It tends to get busy in the evenings with a good young crowd. Food is available and is of the British variety, including pickled eggs, pork pies and the like. All in all a very good pub.

Very nice looking place, classic style to my eye. Visited in the afternoon before four so very quiet. Nice and knowledgeable service. Laid back yet never too much, like they were lazy or didnít care. A lot of stuff on tap, about half their own, half other stuff. Mostly other micros from the region. Prices vary. Own stuff from cask was cheap, from keg pricier.

Daytime visit so was very quiet, but thatís what I like. I did like this place. More keg beers than the Southampton Arms and a decent if small selection of bottles. Barman was very helpful filling me in on what has been going on over the last year or so. Maybe my favourite place of the newer London ones I have tried this visit.

Easy to find pub on the main road. Seems to be populated with a young crowd and not necessarily a beer geek one. Ambiance is good with a fun atmosphere. Interiors are very old wooden pieces, but in a way I fancy. Too old and smelly to be pleasant. Anyways, back to business: the beer selection is very good on English micros, single batches and the house beers. Prices are fair and lower than most craft beer locations in London. Havenít tried food. Overall, a bit out of reach in that part of town but well worth a visit. Iíll be coming back.

Was bored so decided to treck it out to Hackney. About a 2 minute walk from Hackney Central and very easy to find. Selection of Howling Hops beers was amazing. Also had some good locals like Brodies, Beavertown, Partizan, Kernel. Had a very good selection of A grade ciders which I would love to take the missus to see. Service was friendly and knowledgable. Quick to see you when your glass is empty and recommend things as well as give you tasters for nothing. Very cheap. Under 2 quid for half pours. Cool place and will go back
