78 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 15/20
Stopped in here last night to send off the Undertaker properly...
We sat upstairs in the lounge as the first floor was already crowded to capacity. The vibe was sleek with smart design touches, olde-timey without being corny. Owen & Engine came to mind while I was there. Wall sconces, velvet curtains, victorian wallpaper and patterned rugs on the staircase. More intimate booths upstairs and an old-school pocket billards table in the back room.
Beer selection is small but well curated, about a dozen drafts and only 10 bottles. Half the bottles were relatively cheap "chaser" type beers (Schlitz, Daleís, etc) and the large format were high-end double digit type stuff (Golden Blend, Nelson Sauvignon). Drafts seem to rotate frequently with and eclectic mix. I had an Off Color Beer Geek Mus for $6.
Service was very attentive, and our server Tristan was super knowledgeable about the cocktails and their esoteric ingredients. Water was never empty, and the food that hit the table looked very good and was given the thumbs up by friends.
Overall a small but interesting beer selection at this trendy but legit cocktail-focused establishment. Feels nice and fairly relaxing inside, the service is great and isnít rushed.
