2016-05-30. We walked in a sampled our way through the four beers on tap, chatting with friendly staffer behind the counter, whose name escapes me now. (Possibly Matt, but not THE Matt?) Anyway, he chatted with us for quite a while about the brewery and their beers, and the NZ beer scene in general. I could barely contain my excitement for the display of rare bird bottles... and then my massive disappointment when I realized they werenít for sale. :( I had been hoping to pick up several bottles of the Rarebird Moa. He DID send us home with a bunch of the labels (which have some great artwork) as a consolation prize. Worth a visit, but itís more of a bottle and growler shop than a taproom. You can find their stuff elsewhere around Wellington/NZ, but well worth a visit while you are in town.

This is mostly a brewery with just a small tasting/growler fill taproom. I donít think they offer pints but I canít remember entirely. They offer a tasting set, free of charge, which gets you a few ounces of all the brews they have on at the moment. The girl who poured our sets was fun and knowledgeable. Even though they were a few minutes after closing whena couple groups showed up she didnít skimp on the explanations our pours- I was very appreciative of that. We had a great time chatting her up and drinking the tasty beers. Not a place to go have a pint but well worth a stop for a taste or two and a growler fill.

Without an on-premises licence they canít serve pints, so itís not a place to drink, instead they offer samples of 4-5 beers on tap and sell growlers and bottles to-go, same as Garage Project across town. So I canít recommend it as a place to sit and drink, but I do recommend ParrotDog as one of the best breweries in Wellington (and New Zealand), given their fantastic use of English malt and noble-type hops in the FlaxenFeather and DeadCanary.

This is a samll working brewery. I visited for their birthday bash, so they had all their beers on tap. Some were a bit old, but overall tasty enough. They brought in a food truck that did absolutely amazing pizzas - that made it almost worth the admission price of $40. Worth coming to get your growler filled anyway.

Parrotdogs brewery on Vivian St sells riggers of their delicious beers to take away. The brewers themselves look after the shop and are very friendly, helpful and up for a chat about beer.
