Mathallen seems like a must-visit food spot in Oslo. There are a number of grills and kitchens making fresh plates of food in front of you, a few crafts and goods sellers, and seafood markets selling to-eat or to-go foods. Same sort of feel as Östermalmshallen in Stockholm and the Boqueria in Barcelona, though much smaller. Within this hall you have this dedicated craft beer bar. The guy who took care of us I think was a/the manager. Very knowledgeable about beer, friendly to chat with, didn’t push any particular style or beers, and gladly took back an infected bottle that was purchased. It’s a nice place to wander and shop and eat and drink, and you can throw it in with Schouskjelleren and Glød for a walk along the creek path.

Conveniently placed inside the Mathallen market hall. The taps may have some interesting stuff, or there will be mainly macros, I havent been able to figure this out. Anyway, there should be plenty to choose from among the bottles.

My best bar experience in Oslo. Great atmosphere with the market being a hit with my wife, friendly & very knowledgeable staff who was happy to talk beer, decent enough prices for Norway(half-pours at half-price if you want a taster) and a fairly nice bottle& tap list though when I went it was dominated by Danish beers & had no Norwegian ones on tap.

Good tap and bottle selection. Friendly service. Did not try their food, but I appreciate their philosophy of mixing and matching beer and food. I also love the 1,5 dl sampler option from the entire tap range.

Great bottle selection and usually something interesting on tap too. Fairly convenient location, not far from other beer places and in easy walkable distance from the city center. Not my first choice for beer, but certainly worth a visit.

I wouldn’t call Øltorget a restaurant, it’s more of a beer bar with simple but excellent pub grub made in the small kitchen corner (I enjoyed a tasty moose burger with melted blue cheese). On previous attempts I’ve found the place too cramped to visit, but on an early Saturday in March (2013-03-23) I found it pleasantly vacant and sat down. The beer selection on draft is very decent, with 14 taps ranging from standard Pilsner Urquell to English craft beer Moor Nor’Hop. On bottle, the selection is more than decent with more than 200 types, and new ones added every week. I was also pleasantly surprised by the interest and knowledge in beer, shown by the two bartenders. All in all, Øltorget is a nice addition to the Oslo beer scene, but you should come early after opening time or on Sundays.

Nice and cosy place to stop for a beer and grab some snack if you enjoy the food hall type environment. I do occasionally and when the beer selection is good, service is good, the salmon with chevre where superb I’m having a great time. I would not expect the same kind of service as I prefer at a pub or a restaurant, and the service here is way better than I was hoping for.

Lies in Mathallen near Grunerløkka. Got good selection of beer, with some good ones on tap. But the least you would expect, is that they got all theyre beer on the menu, something they didnt have. Also beer is served way to cold. Thats not good enough!

I love this place! Might be a little loud during the rush of people during the day and afternoon on fridays and saturdays, but surprisingly quiet at night. What they lack in size they make up for in the selection of beers. You can expect there to be new beers there every time you go, and the selection on tap is great. They have even been able to fit a chef behind the counter, they are not always in, but if they are you should try their food, it’s quite excellent for the cost.
