Nice bar with a Punk Music theme to the decoration. Television and Ramones records on the walls They played The Specials when we were in. Itís pretty strange to see beers of this stature at all in Croatia but to find them in the heart of Splitís primary tourist destination is a real treat. Well decked out bar with a handsome selection. Hardly anyone in there when we went. Mustíve been an off night.

In the heart of Split, good service, good selection, great atmosphere of Diocletians Palace

Off one of the squares in the north of the old city there is a little pub. I only found it because of ratebeer. There is no sign. The staff is friendly and knows a bit about the beer. Lots of Czech and Belgian beers but also some rare Croatian beers. Sort of dark and gloomy on the inside but a nice place to go to get something alternative.

This bar has very nice selection of foreign beers, mostly from UK, Czech Republic and Belgium. Prices are reasonable and staff has some beer knowledge.

Huge selection compared to the other pubs or coffee bars around. Large selection of bottles, mainly uk, belgian and czech imports. Nice ambiance at the plaza, the terrace that is, and nice on the inside too. Very friendly service and the imports were cheapish, about 20-25kn (3-4Ä). Liked this place a lot, too bad we found it on the last night. Better than the rest of the rb-places here in Split.

Wandered in here thinking it was Mosquito, to be honest. But was a comfy enough place to warm up and have a couple of Czech pints. In winter it was a very locals kind of place, though it is in the heart of the city. Nothing special going on but it was comfortable.

Update 2 (August 2013). Well, well, well. The selection keeps getting better, better & better, mostly due to the owner, who is a very cool guy and actually cares about beer and is actively learning. Even more essential now. The only minus would be the price I guess, but thatís the Palace & the prices are insane for anything in most places. Seasonals & specials pop up all the time. Yeah, this is a must-visit when youíre in town.Update (Dva Tona, December 2013).
For some reason this switched owners (strange, it seemed often full, nearly always in the evening), was slightly redecorated (lost most of the paraphernalia), lost the fridge on display, etc. Unsure about the staff, but they may be the from before, which is OK. Interesting set of taps, one might say unique for Croatia - Malastrana Original Pils, Porterhouse Dublin Red, Merlin Černy and 2 more... 35 bottles and what they have is on display above the bar. Random assortment of mostly craft beer, no more Czech domination. Oh well. Still essential (and great) for Split.

Old review (Mali Flek, December 2012, July 2013).
Humm... Heavy claimed that theyíve improved a LOT so I just had to revisit it. And Iím kinda glad I did. Itís nigh-invisible to a passerby, just a couple of little boards saying stuff like "Becks directly from Bremen" (might as well write "we know jack shit about beer but we pretend we do" if youíre advertising like that). Being inconspicuous, it was nearly empty in an otherwise bustling-with-tourists palace, however, and thatís either a minus or a plus for you. Inside, however, the fridge reveals a much more promising selection than before -> several basic, but much appreciated Brewdogs (Punk, Hardcore, 5 AM Saint), and at least 10 Belgians, including one that Iíd managed not to rate so far, and some German stuff too that you wonít see easily elsewhere. And that suddenly makes this a place worth visiting. The prices are bearable. They have on tap a good Czech lager that they claim to be "their own Mali Flek beer", a rebadge, but a rebadge of something nice. In any case, itís a rare oasis of craft beer in Split, despite its flaws now.

Note: Itís easy to find. Go through the Golden Gate of the palace, turn left immediately, and itís one of the first places to the left. And they have wifi! Original rating: 4/6/6/-/-/10 (52)
