Really enjoyed popping in here on successive nights on a recent visit. Incredibly friendly staff, vibrant and relaxed atmosphere (if spare). Not the largest range of kegs and casks in town, but well chosen for sure. Good grub, too. Understated sleeper.

This place is located only a minute walk from the train station. Itís a cavernous, slightly upscale bar. It offers 6 beers on cask plus a few options on keg. The cask stuff seems to be dominated by offerings from Wylam. The keg stuff is your typical mixture of Guinness, Vedett etc. Thereís a few crafty options in the fridges. As it was a match day, the place was rammed. The staff coped well, and it didnít take long to get served. The prices were fine. Many people were eating, the food looked decent. Overall, this isnít much of a destination for your typical ratebeerian, but itís such a convenient location that you might as well have a look-in.
