A great English feel with exceptional service. The beer list was a definite plus too. The food was pub food - I ordered the bangers and mash that was okay (but kinda plain). My friend got the chicken pot pie and liked it. Overall worth the trip if you want to hit the top historical craft beer places in Portland but I don’t really see the need to visit here or Belmont Station again as the brewpubs in town are more interesting.
You have to love the look and feel of this place...not to mention the history. Feels like a classic British Pub...only bigger. although the beer list is not quite what I’d call amazing...it’s pretty darn good. Add to that some really good pub food...with the cool vibe and you have a great night out...even better with a large group.
Visited on a Monday afternoon in November 2015. The exterior hides the old traditional English Pub Interior. It’s dark with lots of wood panels and beer memorabilia adorning the walls. Service was good. Snacked on a scotch egg with proper hand cut chips that tasted great. Interesting beer range at decent prices. Really like this place.
Visited around dinner time on a Wednesday. Located in a neighborhood, very much a local pub feeling to the entryway. Inside, it’s a wark wood well-worn pub. Larger space, big wraparound bar, with restaurant tables up front and more communal areas around each side of the bar. 2 dart lanes. The tap selection is vast, around 60 beers on offer when I visited, and the quality was super high. Focus appeared to be on Oregon and Washington brewers, though there were a number of well chosen national craft beers. 4 casks. During my visit, there were also 15 speciality taps from the cellar including a 2009 Alaskan Smoked Porter and the 2009 Deschutes Abyss. 10 oz pours available. Solid service.
82 = ★★★½ (Solid place, near the top of the list for locals and visitors)
I only use the total score, not the component parts.

Went here with Ferris for brunch, and to kick-start RBSG 2015 Day 2. Tasty scotch egg! Pretty good incarnation of a "classic" English style pub, and this place has the age behind it to make it legit. Great service, excellent selection, great prices. Very uncrowded early in the day. I’d come again.
I’ve been here a few times now, and have loved it every time. I’d call it a must stop if you are visiting Portland, especially since it is just a few minutes walking from the Belmont Station. Great food, great beer. A ton of taps. They offer half pours of everything. They have a full bar if that’s your fancy. Has a total Irish or British Pub feel, and this was agreed upon by my buddy who has toured around Europe visiting them. Love my visits here, and will continue going here when I visit Portland. I just wish I had my own place like this at home. Love it.
An institution, so a required visit on the trip to Portland. Definitely feels a little dated and perhaps even a little kitschy in terms of the decorations. But what the hell do I know.
We got there somewhat late on a Thursday night, so it wasn’t super crowded, but still a good number of folks drinking at the bar and a few tables throughout the space. Pretty sizable tap list. If you go around town, you’ll find a decent bit of overlap in the bar taplists, but these guys at least had some unique stuff. Beer quality and serving conditions were good.
I got an order of fish and chips (half) and that is probably more than enough for a normal person. Was pretty good. Not the best, but good. Service was decently quick, but certainly at a mellow pace.
They do halves and fulls of pretty much any beer. Prices are excellent (read: cheap) as well. What’s not to like about that?

Real British pub feel, although I have never seen a real British pub with so many taps. Took a long time to choose for all the right reasons. So much good stuff available. Food was good too. Must visit again, and pretty close to Belmont Station.
I finally made it to the iconic Horse Brass. So many trips to Portland and I have never stopped in. Lots going on in this place. Almost every inch is covered with some sort of poster or beer something. Epic prices 10 oz pour of Abyss for $2.95 now that is what I am talking about.
