great place to stay and enjoy a selection of around 90 different, well-selected Belgian, American and German beers (bottled and around 5 beers on tap, four of which were Vagabund-Brews). The owners/barkeepers are very friendly, the brewpub’s interior is hipster/artsy/American - and here, this really makes a difference in amiable but a liiiittle bit dull Wedding-Kiez. And tonight, being packed with beer-enthusiastic folks from all over the world doing their craft brewing course at the nearby VLB, just a wonderful place to be.

During my visit there were only guest beer on tap, what a pity. But Schonramer and Fuller’s were good enough to keep me in for some time. It is a nice place to be, with beer related quotes and brewery equipment all around. Yet the best thing about it is the service. Guys behind the bar are very friendly, so I spent most of my time there chatting about craft beer, lovely. Proof that you can made a nice craft beer place without 10+ taps, but with great atmosphere instead.

So, here’s the thing: the space is lovely, the people are nice. You can tell they care about their beer. There’s an excellent selection of bottled beers available.
Buuuuut....at least when I went, their house brews were kinda terrible. There are 4 taps, and apparently the selection rotates regularly. The night I went, they had a strong red IPA (8%) whose name I don’t recall, a Szechuan Saison (5.2% I think), something called Peter’s IPA (6.1%), and a smoked ale (5.4%). The two IPAs were waaay over-hopped. Just imagine the worst cliché about American "craft" beer and you’ve got it. The stronger one was the less bad out of the two, but it was still quite unbalanced. The Peter’s was borderline undrinkable; might as well have been hop tea. I should say at this point that I often like IPAs or other very hoppy beers--I quite like Hopus, for example. It’s just that these two were over the line. The smoked ale wasn’t awful, but I don’t really feel too qualified to give an opinion, because I don’t usually like rauchbier. This one was a little less smoky and a little more hoppy than your typical German rauchbier. The one decent beer on tap was the Szechuan Saison. Very crisp, nice citrus and herb notes, balanced flavour--just generally a good beer for a summer night. Not good enough to make me want to come back though, sadly.
Other notes: they don’t have a kitchen, but there are some good carry-out places in the near, and you’re welcome to bring food in with you.
So, to recap: great atmosphere, friendly people, nice selection of bottles, but their house-brewed beer is horribly over-hopped.

Good atmosphere, nice bar.
My girlfriend also liked this place, and this is the most important valuation about a place we have ever visited, so I can’t say anything else. I loved it.

Visited on 23rd July 2014. Backstrreet brewpub run by friendly enthusiastic staff attracting an eclectic clientele. I was unlucky to just miss the smoked ale but a fine IPA more than made up for it. An impressive bottle range and a great atmosphere make this pub a MUST.

Really nice place, this. Four Taps with a mix of house-brewed and guest beers, typically German craft beers. Nice selection on the fridges. The owners are American and English is spoken behind the bar. Prices are, for a craft beer bar, very fair. Overall, very commendable, always enjoy going there.

More of a craft beer bar that happens to brew a few beers than a brewpub. Small place with a nice chill atmosphere. Only 4 taps but the beers were all German craft that I’d never seen before. Unfortunately they didn’t have any house beers available while I was there. Generous tasters offered of any beers on tap. The bottle selection wasn’t huge but did consist of some quality German, Belgian, American, and UK beers. Prices were decent. Free pretzel sticks at each table. Bartenders/brewers were American and British and were really friendly and helpful.
