Mikkeller bar SF has a huge bar area with tons of seating options. Really cool bar layout. Bartender was friendly and chill. Great menu with tons of interesting draft and bottle options - of course, including a lot of weird Mikkellers.

Visited on Thursday late night. Not the best location in city... lots of homeless, weirdos around. The bar itself is great. Great selection - both Mikkeller and guest beers. They print a daily beer menu! beers are ordered by serving temp. Have food but kitchen closed at 11pm. all and all - MUST visit.

Big place in a questionable area of town. Inside is nice both upstairs and down. The beer list is full of Mikkeller stuff as well as other not so common choices. I had a disagreement with the bartender (nothing heated) about the Mikkeller Tenderloin Wit and Pale Ale. The Wit I ordered was not so Wit-ish, more like Pale Ale, so after our discussion I went upstairs to do a comparason of both and there is a slightly noticable difference between the two. Well, anyway, in the hubub I forgot to tip the bartender downstairs before we left. Much appologies. When Iím back Iíll seek him out and make amends, sorry.

Visited late afternoon early evening after jumping off the BART coming from Trappist Provisions. Easy to find and I hear it isnít the best part of town but we didnít have any bad experiences walking here or leaving. Place is nice with clearly a lot of money spent but too bad they cheaped it out on the flooring. Great selection of bottles and draft with knowledgeable staff. Yes, prices are high and there is a high amount of beer douchiness abound. But, it is worth a stop without a doubt. Just not my favorite spot in SF be a good margin.

Iím going to try to move past the Mikkeller pretention and just evaluate the quality of the beer and the service, which was great. Amid a busy crowd, the bartender got me a menu and a beer. I donít like how packed it is here, nor the snobbiness of the crowd, but the beer menu is pretty significant and the serving methods are good. The prices are high, which I guess is expected for San Francisco. Personally, I preferred Hopwater Distribution.

Nice place, life the open space and bar setting. Food was ok, I had bratwurst and it is hard to please a german with good bratwurst in the states. Nice beer selection , def a great ace to go for food beer. Service a bit too much on the hipster and I am too cool for you side but friendly. Good hang out place

Visited on a Friday afternoon and got some seats at a community table by the bar. Nice sized bar. Seemed pricey for both food and beer. Nice selection of drafts with some uncommon and scarce beers. Only tried the Cookies & Creme dessert for food which was tasty. Okay service.

Has become my favorite stop in the city whilst working on a long-term project up in Marin. 1/2 a block from the Powell street BART station - which is nice given that BART is generally useless outside of back and forthing from SFO. Beautiful large open space with a pseudo-horseshoe bar and 3-4 communal tables in the center. The fancy íflux capacitorí tap system delivers beers @ 3 different temperatures. Tap List is one-of-a-kind. Iíve seen beers on draft here that Iíve never seen elsewhere. Pricey? Sure, but well worth it. Food is excellent - the Half-Smoke sausage is a stnadout, as are the Finnochiona and Smoked Char on the charcuterie plate. Location on the edge of the Tenderloin makes for lots of colorful characters on the streets outside. Generally packed in the evenings, I donít believe they take reservations, so expect to wait. As a single, usually not a problem on weeknights to get a seat @ the bar.

Visited later evening on a Wednesday. Located in the Tenderloin, so itís pretty rough in the immediate area. The interior of Mikkeller is large, and beautifully designed. A huge bar wraps around the center, and there is seating all around. There are also tables throughout. The draft list was truly impressive, as were the bottle selections. In addition to selection, the draft system is the highest of high tech - keeping beers at proper temperature and dispensing at the correct speed. I have heard the food is also great, though I didnít try any. We had excellent service at the bar. Overall, a must hit in San Francisco.
88 = ★★★★ (best in area, a must for locals and visitors)
I only use the total score, not the component parts.
