Found this right in downtown San Francisco in an area I wasnít seeing much in the way of beer establishments. A wide variety of areas inside, with some feeling like restaurant booths, some like a gaming room, some like a sports bar, and some like a beer drinking bar. Lotís of TVís around including a huge one that we got to sit in front of on comfy couches. Was quiet when we went in but quickly filled up for a Monday NIght Football Game and was packed. Service might have been a bit spotty for some folks around us, but our waitress looked after us pretty good. Beer selection for me was great, as I got to try a lot of beers Iíve wanted to, but canít get in Canada, such as Lagunitas LIttle Sumpin Sumpin, some Stone selections and various others, all a treat to see available for me. Loved their wheel of beer you can spin if you canít decide what to drink (i had no such trouble). Didnít eat there so canít comment on the food. The bill was not shockingly high at all. Iíd revisit this place if ever back in San Fran.

Visited March 31, 2014.
I passed this walking up Powell St and was a little confused since the main entrance wasnít on Sutter like the address here on Ratebeer advertised. Also, the sign said Golden Gate Grill instead of Golden Gate Taproom. I stopped back in after visiting a client the next block over on Sutter and I did in fact find an entrance on Sutter but itís a single door with a sandwich board rather than the light up sign on Powell. In any event Iím glad I stopped in as this place is pretty cool. I feel like I would have enjoyed it more if I was either out with friends or drunk (or both). I say that because they have a bunch of arcade games scattered around the room. Iím not much for video games but who wouldnít want to play some ski ball or ride a motorcycle (simulator, obviously not the real thing) after a glass or two of Lagunitas Sumpin Sumpin or Rodenbach Grand Cru, though the latter is $10 a popÖ Anyway, theyíve got 40ish taps (I didnít count, just going off the number posted here since the real amount seemed pretty high) and you can find some good stuff in there. Over all the tap list is mostly just alright showcasing the usual stuff that you see all over town like Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, New Belgium Fat Tire, Bear Republic Racer 5, and 21st Amendment Back In Black. The one thing that really caught my eye was the Pine St IPA which is from a (I thought) non-existent brewery a couple blocks away on Pine St. I skipped in favor of some Rodenbach and the bartender didnít know much about it so Iíll have to do some digging, or at the very least stop in again and try it.
I didnít get a look at the menu so I canít comment there. The prices were reasonable on some things, high on others. The service was friendly and attentive, if not knowledgeable. Cool place in an otherwise desolate area for beer, minus of course the new Mikkeller bar.

A large establishment that is bar/restaurant/games room wrapped up on one floor. The beer selection is quite pedestrian, but some solid Cali options. For a centrally located bar, off Powell, it offers a variety, and thereís not much else happening around these blocks. Could be a fun late night hangout, with arcade, pool tables and shuffeboard (donít worry, I got no idea what the heck that is either). Dead quiet when I visited, but the bar has only been open a few months and word is only just getting out. Friendly lady at the bar was happy to pour tasters before purchase. By no means a must visit but there could be a good chance youíll walk past at some point anyway.
