Large-ish place at the far eastern side of the city center, near the bus terminal. Looks like a hotel lobby on the right, bar is on the left with an eclectic mixture of Ikea style furniture and stuff from your grandmother’s living room. Bar opens at 2, and there’s a happy hour til 5. Nice mix of local taps and local bottles. Friendly service, interesting customers, including an older lady with an ear-piercing whistle when she needs another beer. Very effective. Big picture windows so you can watch the world go by. Good coffee too. Worth a look.

A friendly bar with a good selection of bottles. I picked up an interesting Borg beer here. Good if you’re looking for Icelandic ticks in bottled form.

Bar in a hostel/hotel. Many bars in this area are attached to hostels. Wide selection of beer, closes at 11pm which is a drag when the sun goes down never in June (when I was here). Great service. Expensive but that is Iceland.

A nice place. The setup is a bit cold though. There is a good selection of beer ant the prices are reasonable. If you want cheep, then happy hour is your time. Overall pleasant experience.

Fairly modern, bright and airy. Decent enough selection, clientele was a bit interesting.

A new place across from the downtown bus terminal in perhaps the most beautiful building downtown Reykjavik. Newly renovated part of the house is a hostel and soon the whole house will be a center for arts and crafts. I came in during happy hour on a friday. A bit too bright, some drunks in their 60´s licking up local lagers on cheap. They have a good bottle selection though and bonus points for keeping glassware proper and clean. Early days, hopefully they will contiune focus on craft beer and when the student housing across from the bus terminal will be completed and then this place will be buzzing.

Neat spot across from the Iceland Phallological Museum. Hotel lobby bar like many other in town. Modern, minimalist interior design. 4-5 Iceland and Danish beer on tap. Extensive bottle list covering roughly a dozen Icelandic beers and a few dozen Belgian, American and Danish products. Superb service, cozy atmosphere, and a better vibe and more attention to detail than I found at Micro Bar.
