Finally found it open. Actually a rather nice place with the two house beers along with most from St Bernard. Only the regular Rodenbach which is disappointing considering the cafe’s connections with the brewery. Certainly worth a look if you’re lucky enough to find it open.

Visited 20 December 2013. Sparse, modern fittings in an old bunker type place. I found it to be a antiseptic and it left me a bit cold. There was a large group of people eating and the service was slow because of it. A fellow sitting at my table recommended I go to the bar to get my drink. Great range of the Sint Bernardus beers. I only saw the regular Rodenbach in bottle so I don’t know how they are involved in the place. Bavik is the draught lager. I had thought of eating here but was put off by the slow service and the typical menu fare of croques, croquettes, portie, spaghetti, etc. They did have a few dishes using the Sint Bernardus cheese. At the very least, a good place to sample the Sint Bernardus range on draught. I’d like to come back if they get the brewery up and running.

Was here on 07-NOV. As already said this is a collaboration of St. Bernardus and Rodenbach. Brewery will be opened some time in 2014. They had most of the St. Bernardus beers on tap, no Pater. Additionally they offered a kind of prototype beer from the upcoming brewery named Wiper Times. Was some kind of Pale Ale with a very fruity aroma and taste. Good. Atmosphere in the Kazematten is good and food is plenty, tasty and reasonable priced. Recommended.

Brasserie Kazematten opened up in April 2013 and is backed by St. Bernardus Brouwerij and Rodenbach who will soon open a microbrewery in relation to the gastropub. When I was there, the pub offered 8 beers from St Bernardus on draught, including Tokyo, Abt 12, Tripel, Prior 8 and Wit. The place is located in the city wall of Ieper, in what may have been a military command center during WWI (I noticed old telephone lines in the vaulted ceilings) and is a funny mixture of old and new, with the white washed brick walls and vaulted ceiling but modern glass and steel interior. Service was good, the food (a pasta dish) tasty and the quality of the draught beers excellent. Visited: 2013-10-02
