My wife and I popped in for a mid-afternoon snack, some drinks and some scrabble. The service was pretty spotty when we were in. Took a long time to get beer and to get our cheque. My wife got a sticky toffee pudding that was frankly terrible. In spite of this, I actually liked the place. Service could definitely be improved on - at least on the day we were there. The beer was good though.

Authentic English Pub (right down to the English people behind the bar) in Rochester, of all places! Good selection, with focus on the British Isles.

Great casual ambiance. I like the varity of beers they have on tap and it changes often. I like they keep their website up to date so that I can see what they have before I head out for the night. I have not had much food here yet. Always a good time.

dinner last night after searching for a good beer bar in Rochester here. Big restaurant with tiny bar. I sat at the bar. Excellent choice of beer on draft, 3 cask, and a booklet of bottles. I had Victory Saison du Buff, OT Smokin Porter, and Victory Headwaters. Thry did have the dutchess and La Trappe Quad on tap. Service was good. I had the Lemon Chicken sandwich and it was quite tasty. 3 beers and food $24, reasonable.

Classic British pub feel that typically has the most cask selections on tap in the city. I can usually find a couple of excellent hoppy beers on tap, including their own OT20. Order the chips with gravy and have a pint at the bar. Bartenders are usually brought in from the UK and add to the authentic feel.

8/25/2009 I went here two weeks ago while on vacation with the family. Our visit was on a Thursday evening for a late dinner. We were there at about 8pm and the place was kind of busy. The sign at the door said seat yourself and that’s what we did. 15 minutes later we found someone to wait on us. This place sits on a corner. Walking in there’s a short entryway then a dozen or so tables in a room on the left. Walking straight from the entry way leads to the bar area which also has probably a dozen or so tables as well as some stools at the bar. After we got our order in I studied the bottle menu and the tap list a few more times. 15 or so taps most had an English theme to them, 3 casks! I had 2 of them. Flying Bison cask, Old Engine oil, and something else from Custom Brewcrafters cask. All were very good. Good selection of single malts as well, I had one as a nightcap. I had the stuffed chicken, my wife had the grown up mac and cheese, and the kids had something fried from the tadpole menu. Good solid pub style food. The service was a bit off tonight. First no one came to wait on us, then we had to move because the dining area was to be closed for a private party. After what seemed like hours we were told that someone dropped my wife’s plate on the floor and they were remaking her dinner. They apologized and gave us free desert and such, but we were there for over an hour and pretty damn hungry before our food came out. If I were in the area again I would definitely stop in, great comfort food, and decent beer selection.

This is a fun place. Authentic English style pub, complete with staffers who are from England. I’m guessing mostly students of the U of R. Good rotating tap selection, but the real reason to come here is for the ambiance and the 4 "real ale" casks. Good stuff. Bottle selection is good as well. Quite a few Belgian beers available. Food is passable, but not great.

Very good place to go for a pint. Food is good, just pub food, bust good just the same. Sometimes have deals for food and brew at a good value. Beers range quite a spectrum. Great beer menu comes in handy for selecting your drink, really interesting to see the large assortment. Little run down, but its a pub so who really cares.

Appears as a somewhat authentic brittish style pub. A bit run down and not all that nice upon close inspection. They had a moderate selection with a regional bias. A couple of casks added to the selection. Service is provided "authentic" British. The service is slow and not the sharpest. The food is all English style -- it is O.K. portions are small and for what you get the prices are high. I suggest sticking with anything that is fried. Overall, as far as restaurants go, above average on the beer scale, but not a world class beer stop.

Great looking bar on the inside, looks like nothing I have seen in the states. Very good selection on tap that rotates frequently. Staff is very knowledgeable but table service always seems a little slow. The beers are more on the expensive side but to do get quality that is tough to find elsewhere in Rochester. One of my favorite bars.
