Decent taplist, pretty international focus and an equally decent bottle selection. Intimate little place and the bar staff were awesome. With Erzbierchof that’s two great bars for beer in a short walk along the one street.
Narrow and dark beer bar with the bar at the far end up some stairs. Sat outside in the sun on a Saturday, very pleasant. Good service and good selection. Six taps and maybe 80-100 bottles available? Would definitely come back again.
If you wanted to drink in a narrow dungeon, you found the right place here. I wouldn’t expect a different atmosphere in Bern. 6 beers on tap, a lot of excellent bottles, a lot of them from the US. I love the toilet! Almost no music. No WiFi, but there is a network near the exit. Very nice place, not to be missed in Bern.
Very narrow bar in the old city of bern. A few tables outside, a few inside and a little space between taps and fridges. Quite charming with rough stone walls, little stairs inside, 6 taps, 3 fridges with bottled beers, a lot of empty decorative bottles and a nice service personal. If you’re around and have time for a beer, make sure not to miss this nice little jewel.

A small and cozy bar located in the old part of Berne. 6 taps, rotating very often as you can imagine, and a very solid core range of bottled beers as well as an interesting range of guest beers. You can also take away bottles. A very nice place to have a beer!
So glad I stumbled upon this place while in Bern. Oli is fantastic and knows his beer (and was very gracious with our utter lack of German, French, or Italian). The Biercafe is in the heart of old town, nestled into a building that might as well have been made to hold a beer bar. They keep 6 taps that stretch the breadth of European craft beers: from Mikkeller and Brewdog to your classic Trappists and Belgian sours. As an American beer enthusiast, this is exactly what I wanted to see. The bottle selection was also outstanding, with plenty of individual bottles tied to stories of reaching out to the brewers (I had an imperial stout from Brouwerij de molen from the Netherlands, for example, which was added to the Biercafe collection during a brewer visit earlier in the year). It’s great to see the love of beer being advocated by this great establishment in the heart of Switzerland! This place is a necessary stop for anyone visiting Bern and comes with my highest recommendation.
