A small and cozy bar located in the old part of Berne. 6 taps, rotating very often as you can imagine, and a very solid core range of bottled beers as well as an interesting range of guest beers. You can also take away bottles. A very nice place to have a beer!

So glad I stumbled upon this place while in Bern. Oli is fantastic and knows his beer (and was very gracious with our utter lack of German, French, or Italian). The Biercafe is in the heart of old town, nestled into a building that might as well have been made to hold a beer bar. They keep 6 taps that stretch the breadth of European craft beers: from Mikkeller and Brewdog to your classic Trappists and Belgian sours. As an American beer enthusiast, this is exactly what I wanted to see. The bottle selection was also outstanding, with plenty of individual bottles tied to stories of reaching out to the brewers (I had an imperial stout from Brouwerij de molen from the Netherlands, for example, which was added to the Biercafe collection during a brewer visit earlier in the year). It’s great to see the love of beer being advocated by this great establishment in the heart of Switzerland! This place is a necessary stop for anyone visiting Bern and comes with my highest recommendation.

Very cosy place in the old town run by a young couple. Located only a few dozen steps away from the clock tower tourist attraction (Zytglogge-Turm) in a side alley.
Usually serves a Swiss Witbier on tap one, the other five taps change at random with international specialities from smaller breweries - no lager beers to be found here. The place offers changing "guest beers" in large and small bottles and of course the famous Trappist beers (hence the name of the place).
May get a bit crowded on weekends, try going there earlier in the evening on Fri/Sat if you prefer a more quiet atmosphere.

A small and charming beer bar located in the old town of Bern. Absolutely great choice of beers. 6 on tap, About 40 bottles as "standard" line (Trappist beers, De Molen, De Ranke, BrewDog, BFM and more) and about 40 more bottles as "guest" (i.e. constantly rotating) like Alesmith, Amager, Evil Twin, Jester King, Lost Abbey, Mikkeller and many more). Don’t miss this place !
