A superb community bar that has specialises big time in beers, more German than not but with some interesting imports. Sit at the bar, look keen but lost and let them give you straight advice. Very few duds on the menu and where they are there is a reason - for example they come from Liechtenstein (it’s a country, dude).

What a surprise! Defenetely the best selection for every lover of Franconian beers. Huge selection from the best breweries of the area (Schlenkerla, Hummel, Weiherer, Mahr’s....) and some "craft" beers for hipsters, too.

Currently my favorite place to drink in Berlin because of its emphasis on characterful, traditional German beers (although you can still get your "craft" IPAs here if that’s what you want). Warm and smallish one-room pub in a residential area. Lots of good Franconian stuff, kellers and smoked beers, Altbier, Kölsch, various unfiltered lagers, interesting wheat beers, plus a growing selection of bottled "craft." I’ve heard there is food but I’m not sure what or when. Stay away and keep to your trendy bars, please, I’d rather have this one to myself.

Foersters has its pros and cons. Pros: the owner and barkeeper is a beer sommelier, you get one of the best choices of traditional German style beers (Bocks, alts, keller etc.) in Berlin, it’s reasonably well accessible, the bar itself is nice (but small) and the bartender knows his beers. Cons: The selection of new German craft beers (IPAs etc.) is small and cheaper elsewhere, and that the vast majority of beers are bottled so that you have to drink full 0,5l for €4-€5 or more. If you’re into traditional German beer styles this is definitely worth visiting

Wonderful surprise to find out about Foersters Feine Biere which opened in May 2014. Tucked away just off the busy shopping area of Steglitz the bar blends into the largely residential neighborhood street. A small beer garden in front with seating for about 20. The interior is clean and newly renovated with a live edge wooden bar. The walls are decorated with brewery memorabilia and mugs. The owner Sven Foerster took good care of us and recommended great beers. Overall the selection is top notch, focusing on traditional German beer styles from all over Germany including Upper Franconia, Düsseldorf, etc as well as many fresh German craft beer brands and styles. Absolutely well needed specialist for beer in west Berlin. Reasonable prices and excellent, friendly, and knowledgeable service.
