Though I think this is a great pub with a fantastic selection of beer their menu seems rather set in stone. But was really dentures me from frequenting this place is that I find it just too expensive. In a shop you can buy some of these beers for a third of the price

This bar has a nice ambiance. Very good beer selection of mostly Belgian and Dutch brews, but I also noticed some US beers and a couple of BrewDogs. I had a great time at this bar.

One of the better bars in The Hague. Big selection, with quite a lot of beers on tap. Very friendly staff, and they always keep a tab for the evening for you which is nice. Not cheap, but that’s the norm nowadays.

I really liked De Paas - not just because it has a good draught beer selection and an impressive range of bottles (mainly but not exclusively Dutch or Belgian - I noticed BrewDog and Fuller’s there too) all lined up behind the bar but also because it’s a lovely place, old fashioned and full of character. It’s long and dark with windows onto a sun-dappled garden at the back. There are white tiled walls and dark wood furniture, fairy lights along the central beam, candles in bottles on the tables and heavy brass lampshades over them. It was of course inevitable that I should bang my head on one as I was sitting down. The bar is on a cobbled street next to a canal and there’s a small pavement patio outside as well as tables and chairs on a barge just opposite. The service was very friendly, the music was relaxed and - best of all - they had a "biergarten" sign just like the one Jan and Charlotte brought us as a present from Germany. All in all, a must visit place in Den Haag.

Place has a nice ambiance. Beer selection is rather poor though. The list is okay in itself, but when I orderded the more special ones, they told me they were out of stock. Owner was grumpy and seemed to blame me for asking for difficult beers. Wrong attitude for a -supposed to be- beer bar.

This ought to be the classic Dutch bar; very nice, not exactly large, but also situated on a canal. Average tap selection, but I admire the way they display the bottles, the selection is large, no .rar beers, but the usual solid Belgian and Dutch are available, Aecht Schlenkerla Märzen too, a couple of Brewdogs, a couple American…
Smiling service; playing Deep Purple while I drink is a plus.
Very nice place, more vibe than my other favorite, Rootz.

Best beer bar in Den Hague. Right by one of the few remaining canal’s; just south of the pedestrian old town. Was a slow wintry day; I was one of 2-3 customers, during the middle of the week. Very knowledgeable bartender; music was some great odl jazz selections. Inside was dark, in a typical brown cafe way; lots of beers to try. Best place in town for a few pints/bottles.

Seems a bt small at first but then you notice that you can sit outside on a boat by the canal. Inside is much bigger though. Nice menu with mostly dutch and belgian beers, quite a few english ones too, at least on the bottle menu that I checked. Every beer I ordered or that I noticed being ordered on the nearby tables came with its branded glass, which is always a plus. I didn’t order any food but I saw people really enjoying platters of cheese nearby. Waiters seemed a bit bored and distant. Prices not bad, not cheap either.

(Visited Feb 2013) Excellent beer bar by a canal in the southern parts of the city centre. Quite cosy interior and a large bar, where you can sit as well. They had 14 beers on tap, most of them from the Netherlands and Belgium, and some guests from the US and Denmark. Good selection of bottled beers, 150-200, mainly from Dutch micros and Belgium. Lots of other good stuff as well. Staff was efficient and quite knowledgeable. On my visit a Thursday evening it was quite crowded, but the atmosphere was friendly and laid back and I managed to find a place at the bar. A must visit in Den Haag.
