54 beers on tap, good friendly service, no loud annoying music blasting right into your ear, no hipsters (at least not on a Monday night) - what more do you need? Absolutely brilliant place, competes with any joint I’ve been to anywhere.

Unbelievable selection and nice, helpful, knowledgeable staff. Awful prices, though. And the decor isn’t that great. I do appreciate the lack of music, though.

Visited several times late October 2014. Cosily partitioned pub offering an extensive chalkboard of Norwegian, Danish, Belgian and English (Strongbow, anyone?) selections and complimentary heaps of peanuts. Approached this place frothing with anticipation within hours of alighting in Bergen having been tipped off it contained the biggest tap selection in Norway, possibly Europe. The chap (Henrik himself?) behind the bar was touchingly embarrassed by the paucity of range available (maybe 20, only about 5 Norwegian) apologetically explaining they were undergoing some work which meant half the chalkboard was wiped blank. Second night he took us through the freshly-connected off menu stuff he was forbidden to chalk up until 7pm so I appreciated that. Don’t really get the point of offering crap like Strongbow and Guinness alongside the finest hand-picked Norwegian and Danish obscurities or duplicating average Belgians (Chimay) which are better in bottle anyway but these are the trifling quibbles of the well-travelled beer nerd and this incongruity is seen in craft beer bars all over the world.
Love the lack of pretension, warmth and outright beeriness of the place (No Nogne or Punk IPA which is on tap in virtually every bar in Bergen). Highly tick-centric spot; think The Wellington with twice the selection, no Brummies (except the wife) and half the stench. Bonus point. The most beer-focussed place I’ve been in Norway.

I like this Place, and i am glad that someone recommended this Place for me. There is no Music and no serving at the tables, but when we approached the bar it was good service. A Nice Board With the selection on draft. A very good Place, and i will be back the NeXT time i am in Bergen.

Nice bar with good selection of both beers on tap and bottles, 54 different beers on tap. Looks like a popular place, but not too crowded on a thursday night, possible to get a seat, freindly and helpfull staff.

Very good selection both bottled and on tap. Good service. Grey ambiance though. Nice bar for a sunny afternoon (not very usual in Bergen).
Update: Now with 54 taps and the good service this is one of the best beer bars in Norway.

To the best of my knowledge Henrik Øl og Vinstove is the best stocked draught beer bar in Norway, with an impressive 54 tap lines (including one with cider and a few industrials, such as Ringnes, Guinness and Kilkenny, but still!), so I always stop by when I’m in Bergen. The entrance from Engen is rather unassuming, so I walked past it on my first visit years ago, you basically enter a dark, long narrow hallway, with Grieg cartoons on the wall, up a set of stairs to the second floor pub. The draught beer menu is listed on two blackboards on the wall next to the bar, which is useful to checkout before you ask the bartender as there is a good rotation from day to day. The pub itself is very plainly laid out, with little decoration or fancy features, so the atmosphere may not be like in a Victorian pub. But service is usually good, except when the pub gets packed - which it will be at nights, especially on Fridays and Saturdays. For a good, quiet pub experience I recommend going early in the week or at least shortly after their 4 pm opening hour. Then you can sit down at the bar and have a nice long conversation with bartender Halvor. Last visited: 2014-09-06

Koselig pub, godt og variert utvalg på tapp. Kanskje Bergens beste pub.
